Chapter 126 Romantic Rival
Looking at Xander’s latest tweel, it screamed “success” in the most typical way.
Before Abigail could even finish reading the post, Xander had already sent her a message.
[Abigail, long time no see.]
Abigail opened the chat and, after a moment of hesitation, edited her reply.
[Xander, long time no see.]
The typing bubble popped up almost immediately. Just then, Felix, watching Abigail intently as she focused on her phone, casually popped a piece of apple into his mouth.
“Abigail, I want some yogurt,” he said.
Abigail got up without a word, grabbed a bottle of yogurt from the fridge, and plopped back onto the couch, her eyes still glued to the screen.
Felix narrowed his eyes, sensing something was off. He squinted, watching her carefully.
Just then, a message from Xander came through.
[How’ve you been lately?]
Chapter 126 Romantic Rival her own.
[How did you get my contact info?]
It didn’t take long before Xander replied.
[We’re classmates. Getting your number from someone else. wasn’t exactly hard.]
Abigail didn’t rush to reply.
Honestly, she felt like she didn’t know Xander anymore. He seemed like a completely different person from the guy she remembered.

And then there was today–at the courthouse. He knew exactly what had happened, but still managed to get the verdict in favor of the guy.
Sure, that’s what lawyers do, but deep down, she couldn’t shake the feeling of resentment.
Felix could see the subtle change in Abigail’s expression, and it made him want to rush over to her phone and see exactly what was going on
But he didn’t want to make it too obvious.
He cleared his throat a couple of times, then stood up,
pretending to casually walk past her. He slipped into the kitchen. and poured himself a glass of water.
But the phone screen was too small, and as he passed by, he couldn’t catch a glimpse of anything.

All he could tell was that she was texting someone.
Just then, Xander replied again.
[It’s been so long. Don’t suppose I could have the honor of inviting you out to catch up?]

Abigail instinctively checked the time–it was already past nine.
At this hour, she rarely went out, and it felt a bit off to meet up with a male classmate alone.
She typed a response.
[It’s too late. Maybe some other time.]
Felix finished getting his water and, still holding the glass, started walking back. He intentionally slowed his pace as he
neared her.
But just as he was passing, Abigail shut off her screen.
Once again, he didn’t see anything.
Feigning indifference, Felix returned to the couch and sat down.
Meanwhile, Abigail had also gone into the kitchen to get some
water.
Her phone buzzed again, and this time, she decided to stand in the kitchen and check it.
[The night life of a city woman is just getting started. How about grabbing some late–night snacks? Tell me your address, and I’ll

Abigail could see what Xander was doing–he was determined to get her to meet up.
And with everything that happened today in court, there were some things she wanted to ask him.
After a moment of hesitation, she finally agreed.
She sent him the address of her neighborhood, then headed to her room to change.
Ten minutes later, Felix watched as she slipped into a workout outfit, clearly getting ready to head out.
He couldn’t sit still anymore.
“So late, where are you going?” he asked.
Abigail knew Felix was only asking out of concern, but for some reason, she couldn’t shake the feeling that lately… he’d been getting a little too involved in her personal life.
Even so, she took a deep breath and explained patiently.
“One of the lawyers on the other side today is an old college classmate of mine. He asked me to grab a late–night snack. Plus, I wanted to talk to him about the case, so I’m just going. downstairs for a bit. Do you want anything? I can bring something back for you.”
Felix remembered very clearly that the lawyer on the other side
was a guy.
But he tried to play it cool.

“Late–night snacks? Aren’t you worried you’ll turn into a pig with all that food?”
“It’s fine, I’ll eat a little. The main thing is to talk.”

“Oh, catching up with an old classmate, huh? But your old classmate can’t even grab a snack without dragging you along?”
Felix’s words had a sharp edge to them, and Abigail could tell.
Her expression darkened.
“So, Mr. Rowe,” she said with a slight edge to her voice, “Are you really going to try to control who I go out with or what I eat?”
Felix immediately realized he’d overstepped.
He quickly covered it up, trying to seem unconcerned.
“It’s not like I’m controlling anything. I’m just reminding you -you’re my personal assistant now. And since I’ve injured my hand, I’m kind of stuck doing everything myself. If you’re out for too long and something goes wrong, I’ll have to dock your pay.”
Abigail was stunned. For the first time, she wondered if Felix was just being unreasonable.
But what could she do? He was the big boss.
Abigail quickly slipped on her shoes and sent a reply.
“Yes, Mr. Rowe, I’ll be back early.”
With that, she headed out the door, leaving Felix alone in the

room, suddenly restless and agitated.

He got up and began pacing back and forth in the living room.
“An old classmate, huh? Out at this hour for a late–night snack?
“Something’s definitely off about this… I can feel it.” He thought.
After a few moments of hesitation, Felix couldn’t just sit there. anymore. He grabbed his jacket, put on a mask, and left.
Not wanting to risk missing Abigail in the elevator, he took the stairs instead.
When he reached the first floor, he saw Abigail stepping out of the elevator.
He quickly pulled the hood of his jacket over his head, keeping a few meters of distance between them, and quietly followed her
out.
Abigail waited at the entrance of the neighborhood for a little over ten minutes. Felix hid out in a nearby cluster of trees, watching from a distance.
He couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.
Here he was, a lawyer, reduced to stalking her.
And this guy–Abigail’s so–called “classmate“-wasn’t even reliable. It was bad enough he was meeting her at this hour, but now he had her waiting around for so long.
Just as Felix was mentally cursing the guy, a taxi pulled up to
Chapter 126 Romantic Rival
Xander was dressed in casual athletic wear, the kind of
outfit that screamed “off–duty” yet still too put–together for a late–night hangout.
Felix immediately recognized him.
This guy wasn’t just some casual “classmate“-he was competition, a straight–up rival!
The same guy who had practically followed Abigail around in college, always showering her with attention and acting like a textbook pretty boy.

Thank God Felix came along, or it would have been a complete disaster! Boom! Out of nowhere, his romantic rival made a
dramatic entrance.
Xander spotted that the street was clear, so he jogged over to Abigail, waving his hand and flashing a bright, wide smile.
For a moment, Abigail felt a wave of nostalgia.
It was as if the sunny, basketball–carrying guy from the campus days had come back to life–nothing had changed.
This was the version of him she remembered, not the one from the courtroom today.
She gave him a small smile in return, and Xander reached her, running a hand through his hair, still grinning.
“Abigail, I know it’s late, and it’s kind of bold of me to ask you out this time of night. I’ve been caught up with work all day, only just got

a break. Hope you don’t mind.”
Abigail shook her head. “No, it’s fine. Being a lawyer means. staying busy, that’s normal.”

From a distance, Felix couldn’t make out exactly what they were saying, but the way they were grinning at each other–those blindingly bright smiles–was enough to make his eyes hurt.
“Are they really that happy? Smiling like a couple of flowers in full bloom!” Felix muttered to himself.
