Chapter 26 Sarah Was Anxious
Jennifer turned her gaze toward Daniel, her eyes darkened with disappointment.
Daniel felt the weight of her stare settle heavily on him. He knew, at that moment, that Jennifer was done listening to him.
She forced a small smile. “Daniel, when you were doing all that just now, did you ever think about how it would end up?”
Daniel was taken aback and rendered speechless.
With Timothy now unveiling the video evidence, he realized there was no point in trying to explain himself anymore.
After a moment of hesitation, he finally muttered, “But we’re family, right?”
Timothy’s voice dropped to a chilling edge. “You’re just realizing you’re family? When you stole my fiancée’s model and handed it to Sarah, did you think of that?”
Daniel retorted defensively, “I was doing this for her benefit!”
Timothy retorted, his tone unyielding, “So exposing your lies is for your benefit, too, to prevent you from becoming a deceitful fraud.”
Daniel was left speechless, unable to muster a single retort.

Seeing how the tide was turning, Sarah panicked and burst into tears. “Professor Moore, it’s all my fault! I wanted your approval so badly that I ended up doing something terrible!”
Daniel interjected, “This was my idea, not Sarah’s! She’s completely innocent in this.”
Vincent, perplexed, asked, “Why would you do this?”
“Because I was trying to help Sarah achieve better results. The video clearly shows me taking the box from Jennifer and giving it to Sarah. She had nothing to do with it.”
Daniel instinctively defended Sarah, desperate to shield her from the fallout.
Meanwhile, Sarah’s tears flowed freely, and she felt a wave of relief. She mused, “Thank goodness I have someone to take the blame!”
Watching Daniel protect Sarah stirred something in Jennifer; a sense of unease twisted in her stomach.
Daniel had once been so kind to her, but everything had changed once Sarah entered the Hargreaves family.
Now, though, she found herself no longer caring.
Vincent, overwhelmed by the complexity of the situation, finally turned toward Timothy.

“Mr. Clark, how do you think we should handle this?”

“Professor Moore, I think you should ask Jennifer. She’s the one who’s truly affected,” Timothy replied, then shifted his calm gaze to her.
Jennifer looked up at Timothy, surprise dancing in her eyes.
She thought, “So this is what it feels like to have someone stand up for you. It’s been so long since I felt this way.”
Timothy’s tone took on a commanding quality. “Speak your mind; no one can make you do otherwise.”
Sarah jumped in first. “Jennifer, I should have insisted that Daniel not do anything so reckless. You should blame me instead.”
Jennifer turned to Vincent with a sincere smile. “I’m sorry for taking up your time, but this isn’t really a problem on my end. The model that Sarah submitted was made by me, so I hope she’ll return it. She should rely on her own efforts for future assignments.”
Vincent felt a wave of pride for Jennifer’s graceful handling of the situation.
He addressed Sarah, “This time your assignment will score zero. I hope this serves as a wake–up call for you. Since Jennifer isn’t pursuing it any further, let’s put this behind us.”
Sarah nodded, her face a mask of embarrassment, silently

seething at how Jennifer had outsmarted her in this instance.
As Jennifer followed Timothy out of the classroom, she glanced at him curiously. “What are you doing here?”
Timothy looked slightly flustered and turned his head away. “I just happened to be here for something and happened to see everything.”
“Such a coincidence?” Jennifer raised an eyebrow.
“Hey, you know how life is full of coincidences. Besides, I didn’t even shoot the video,” he replied.
Jennifer smiled, a genuine warmth spreading across her face. She said, “Well, thank you anyway.”
Timothy’s demeanor shifted slightly, his tone assertive. “Remember your place; you’re my fiancée now. You don’t have to worry about what anyone else thinks.”
His confidence was a little overbearing, but oddly, it made Jennifer feel safe.
She mused, “Is he really standing up for me?”
Jennifer nodded obediently, her voice soft. “I understand. You go ahead and take care of what you need to do. I have to get back to class.”
With her cane in hand, she turned to head back, only to run into Daniel as he stepped out of a nearby room. “Jennifer, are you

happy now?” he asked, a hint of sarcasm lacing his words.
Jennifer didn’t even look up, ignoring him completely.
Daniel felt a pang of frustration at being brushed off. He reached out and grabbed her arm. “I’m talking to you! With the Clark family backing you up, you’ve forgotten basic manners?”
Timothy’s voice cut through the tension like a knife. “Let her go!”
“Mr. Clark, I’m having a conversation with my sister. This isn’t any of your business!” Daniel shot back defiantly.
Eric chimed in, a smirk on his face, “Mr. Daniel Hargreaves, are you really that oblivious? Ms. Hargreaves is injured, and your grip is going to make her fall!”
Realizing the truth in his words, Daniel reluctantly released Jennifer’s arm. “I don’t need you to remind me.”
“Actually, you do. You claim to care about Ms. Hargreaves, but you’re showing less concern than a complete stranger. What kind of brother does that?”
Daniel was left speechless, the words hitting him hard.
He glanced down at Jennifer’s injured foot, a wave of guilt washing over him. “I just thought you were faking it,” he mumbled, the regret creeping into his voice.

He thought to himself, “Jennifer has really changed. Is she upset with me?”
