Chapter 32 Stop Being a Fool
Timothy sat on the couch with an expressionless face.

Eric said, “Mr. Clark, considering that Ms. Hargreaves is your fiancée, you really should put on a show for appearances. If Madam Clark hears about this, it might just make her day.”
Timothy remained silent, his eyes fixed ahead.
Ryan leaned closer. “Mr. Clark, I honestly think Ms. Hargreaves is just playing you. She’s acting all pitiful to stick around, and once she’s made her public debut, she’ll be back with the Hargreaves family. She’s using you!”
Timothy’s expression darkened at Ryan’s words.
Eric chimed in, “I don’t see it that way. Maybe Ms. Hargreaves has something important going on.”
“If she had any decency, she would’ve at least sent Mr. Clark a message to let him know where she is. The fact that she hasn’t speaks volumes,” Ryan said.
Just then, Timothy noticed his phone light up with a new
message.
Eric handed him the phone. “Mr. Clark, it might be a message from Ms. Hargreaves.”

“After all, who else would be messaging him?” Eric thought, knowing that aside from Jennifer, there wasn’t anyone else.

Timothy glanced at the screen and, almost on instinct, picked it up. To his surprise, it was indeed a message from Jennifer.
His brow furrowed slightly as he read her words.
Timothy mused, “She has been picked up by Asher?”
Eric’s eyes darted to the message. “Mr. Clark, I think Ms. Hargreaves might have been taken against her will. With everything that happened at school today, the Hargreaves family is definitely going to be on her case. They’re so biased!”
Timothy recalled the scene at school where Jennifer had been treated unfairly.
He could picture her leaning on her cane, her back straight, yet her eyes held an unmistakable distance and coldness.
“Look into this,” Timothy said.
Ryan said, “Mr. Clark, I really think this is just a ploy by the Hargreaves family. You shouldn’t waste your time on them.”
Eric quickly responded, “Ryan, Ms. Hargreaves is Mr. Clark’s fiancée. This is different.”
Eric thought, “Plus, it’s good for Mr. Clark to have someone around. After all, Ms. Hargreaves might not truly side with the Hargreaves family.”

Timothy stared at the message on his phone, his expression inscrutable.
He opened the chat but couldn’t decide how to respond.

Frustrated, Timothy tossed the phone aside and picked up the book in his lap, but his mind was elsewhere.
Meanwhile, Jennifer was anxiously waiting for Timothy’s reply, but nothing came through.
She thought, “Did he even get my message?”
“Ms. Hargreaves, it’s time for dinner,” someone called from downstairs.
At the sound of the voice, Jennifer emerged from her guest room, leaning on her cane as she made her way down the stairs.
“How did you sleep last night?” Asher asked, rubbing his temples on the couch.
He hadn’t slept well at all, and the absence of Jennifer’s traditional medicine made his headache feel worse than usual.
Jennifer noticed Asher’s discomfort and guessed his migraine was acting up again.
She quickly averted her gaze, pretending not to notice.
In her previous life, she had worked tirelessly to find the old

traditional doctor who provided the remedy for Asher’s migraines.

The recipe was demanding, and she was the only one who could prepare it.
Each time Asher suffered from a headache, she would wake up at the crack of dawn to brew the medicine.
But then Sarah had made her own medicinal soup, and Asher had praised Sarah’s efforts, claiming that without her soup, his migraines wouldn’t have improved.
But could a soup compare to an actual remedy? Of course not.
Asher had dismissed all Jennifer’s hard work for a simple bowl of soup.
“So this time, I won’t be a fool. If Asher prefers Sarah’s soup, then let him have it. I won’t compete for recognition anymore.”
Jennifer, leaning on her cane, made her way to the dining room and sat down without a word, not even bothering to inquire. about the situation.
Asher watched her retreating figure, a flicker of disappointment in his eyes.
He had barely slept the night before, rising early with the expectation that Jennifer would already be in the kitchen, brewing his medicine.

To his surprise, the kitchen was empty.

Believing Jennifer simply didn’t know, he purposefully took a seat, waiting for her to notice. Yet, despite clearly seeing him, she said nothing.
A wry smile appeared on Asher’s face. It was evident that Jennifer was truly angry this time.
Previously, any sign of discomfort arose, and Jennifer would be in a frenzy, circling around him like a worried mother hen, ensuring he took his medicine.
Only now, amidst the discomfort, did Asher realize how much he had taken that for granted.
With a throbbing headache, Asher joined Jennifer in the dining
room.
As he sat down, he fixed his gaze on her and, his voice hoarse, said, “Jennifer, I know you’ve been wronged before. If there’s anything you want, just tell me.”
Jennifer sipped her warm water, her tone indifferent. “There’s nothing I want.”
In truth, all she wanted was to leave this place behind.
At that moment, Sarah appeared, carrying a bowl of medicinal
Soup.
