- 8.
Liam’s party was on a yacht.
I was invited because I was friendly with his
mom.
Around six PM, the yacht was lit up.
Everyone was wearing designer gowns,
sipping champagne, congratulating Liam and
く
his parents.
“Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, my dad got you some
priceless jewelry, and Liam, I got you a
special race car!”
“Happy birthday, and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, I
made you an Al butler!”
After everyone handed over their gifts, Amy,
in a cheap dress, handed Liam a watch.
“Happy birthday.”
“Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, I, I had to buy the gift
too soon.”
く
too soon.”
Everyone laughed.
“How does a bum afford this? It’s like the
party is lower class now.”
“Seeing her makes me sick, who’s to blame?”
“That two grand, I’d be ashamed to take it!”
“Okay, she’s already poor!”
“She might not be like a charity case, but those two grand, might be her own money.”
Amy bit her lip, tears in her eyes.
<
Liam tossed the watch back at her.
“If you’re broke, don’t even bother, it’s
embarrassing.”
Amy burst into tears.
“I have money!”
“I’m Lisa’s foster daughter!”
“I’m a millionaire like Sarah!”
Everyone stared, laughing.
“Yeah right, Sarah doesn’t even talk to you,
stop lying!”
“We know what you’re doing, no one wants to
adopt you!”
I nodded, calmly.
“She is my foster daughter, but my husband.
brought her home without my permission.”
“I never even signed the adoption papers.”
“I have no legal obligation to pay for her.”
The others hated Amy, so they sided with me.
“Yeah, you don’t need to be spoiled, be who
<
you are, and build yourself up.”
“Seeing her makes me mad, who asks for
money like that.”
I raised my hand, motioning for them to stop.
“You can’t say she doesn’t care about this
party.”
“She stole money to buy the watch.”
