With graduation coming up, I didn’t rest on the
weekends.
I studied with Grandpa and did schoolwork.
I studied ancient objects, and history with
Grandpa.
My test scores hovered around a 610, not good
enough.
Grandpa told me to rest, and left me a snack
and warm milk at my door.

Love was what he did, not what he said.
Mom said she loved me but she pushed me away.
Mr. Henderson only looked out for himself.

After the exam, I scored a 630 and got into S University for archeology.
Grandpa got an invitation from the Hendersons:
Ashley’s send–off party.
Grandpa missed Ashley, so we went.
It was fancy.
Ashley walked down the stairs in a white dress.
The makeup was great, but her eyes were
blank.
Ashley saw us.
9:35
Mr. Henderson told her to greet us.
Ashley walked over and said, “You came to
laugh at me? Too bad! I’m going abroad and
marrying Chad Foster.”
She didn’t know what Chad was like.
Mr. Henderson wouldn’t tell her.
I had seen him with two women at a club.
I wanted her to suffer.
100
But Grandpa felt bad, and told Ashley to call
him if she needed anything.
I told her to stay away from Chad.
Ashley frowned.
“You still want my fiance? Amy, you’re trash!”
she yelled.

Grandpa sighed, saying he should have taken
both of us.
I patted Grandpa.
“This is Ashley’s choice,” I said.
She chose to almost die with me.
She chose wrong in the other life, too.
Ashley wanted wealth, not real love.
The party went on.
Ashley smiled and got Chad’s ring.
Mr. Henderson hugged Ashley and gave her a
black card.
The card was empty.
In the other life, I didn’t dress revealing or go to

The rich ladies didn’t hate me.
The men liked Ashley, but they didn’t respect
her.
They knew what Mr. Henderson was doing.
Some of the ladies said, “The other sister looks
smart, but Ashley looks cheap!”
“My husband gave her a million–dollar deal,”
one woman said.
Then she told her son to stay away from Ashley.
Chad came over to get my number.
He was an opportunist.
He didn’t deserve me.
Grandpa knew what Mr. Henderson was up to.
9:35
He found Ashley and tried to take her away.
100
Ashley pushed Grandpa.
“Are you crazy? You want to ruin my life?” she screamed.
“I’m never going back!”
Ashley was crazy, just like in the other life.
I helped Grandpa up and glared at Ashley.
“This is on you. You’ll regret this!” I said.
I stayed with Grandpa, afraid he would feel bad
about Ashley.
Soon, it was time for school.
Grandpa went with me to S University and
bought me a house there.
9:35
He went back to the country, sad.
100
He called me, with the neighbor lady showing him how.
I was the only student in my department.
The teachers loved me, and they treated me
well because of Grandpa.
“I listened to Mr. Chen, and that’s why I stayed here!” one of them said.
When I got home, Grandpa was waiting at the
bus stop.
Everything was happy and good.
Four years passed, and I graduated.
I went back to Grandpa and took over his
business.
Ashley came back too.
She didn’t learn anything in high school, and
she didn’t know anything in college either.
Mr. Henderson just bought her grades.
She was known for being messy.
Mr. Henderson didn’t give her enough money,
so she tricked rich guys in other countries.
Chad found out and called off the wedding.
Ashley messed it up, and Mr. Henderson beat
her so badly she went to the hospital.
“Think about your brother! Now everyone says
we have a whore in our family!” he screamed.
Mom nagged her.

I only went because Grandpa told me to.
Ashley yelled.
100
“You think I’m funny, don’t you? I should have listened when you told me to stay away from
Chad. I know you remember everything! You’re happy I’m suffering, right?!” she screamed.
“That man gave me a disease and broke off the wedding! Never!”
She was crazy.
I just stared at her.
“This is what you wanted. You are the only one
who can make your own decisions,” I said.
I left.
The next day, I saw the news.
9:36
100
Ashley asked Chad to forgive her, then stabbed
him when he went to meet her.
Nobody cared.
Everyone knew Ashley was crazy.
She cut Chad up, then she stood in front of the
Henderson house, covered in blood.
Lots of people died.
Ashley was messed up, but Mom and Mr.
Henderson were responsible, too.
I didn’t feel bad for them.
They only cared about money.
Grandpa saw the news and looked old.
Ashley got locked up.

Grandpa donated artifacts and had
connections, but he didn’t save her.
“Everyone has to pay for their mistakes,” he
said.
Grandpa handed me his research.
I bid on items at auctions overseas.
The auction houses didn’t try to cheat me,
because I knew what was real and what was
fake.
Now, I was the most famous collector in the
country.
I helped artifacts come home.
Grandpa heard what I did and laughed.
The sun set, and Grandpa and I walked down a
path.
I lived a good life.
The End.
