Chapter 5 Go Anywhere You Want
Robert wasn’t in the mood to do anything that day, as he had been haunted by a feeling of frustration since lunch with Lily. When he was back in his office, he didn’t read the documents he was supposed to, either. Instead, the words that Robert’s grandfather said before his passing rang in Robert’s mind.
He told Robert to take care of Lily, to which Robert agreed. Yet, in the end, they still got a divorce.
Robert heaved a sigh. This divorce was going to happen one way or another, so he didn’t regret it. Ever since they were married, he had been looking forward to this day, for it wasn’t his idea to marry Lily.
However, he felt guilty about his late grandfather. A few more glasses of wine later, Robert became more frustrated.
There was a sensation in his chest that brought about a lot of unease. As he was overwhelmed by these confusing emotions, Robert thought about Lily but not about the divorce he experienced earlier that day. Instead, he was taken back to many nights ago when Lily was underneath his body. He quickly shut his eyes as beads of sweat formed on his forehead. I think I know what’s wrong with me.
Pete was in the mood by then, so he caressed the lady beside him. “Why don’t we go somewhere else?” he suggested.
Robert slowly opened his eyes and smiled. “Sure.” Even though he wasn’t in his best condition, Robert had to be composed.
Fortunately, the air was cooler outside, so it eased Robert up a bit. After exiting the room, he texted the driver and told him to come over quickly.
Pete was ahead of him, holding a woman in his arms. He seemed to be in a near-ecstatic mood, even humming while he strolled off. They went past the dance floor after exiting the VIP section, and they were just in time for the climax of the night.
The spectators were buzzing with excitement, for the dancers were starting to strip, much to Pete’s liking. “Well, they do know how to throw a party.” He smacked his lips.
Robert glanced at the dance floor, but then he looked further ahead and saw Lily chatting with another man behind the dance floor. He had to squint to recognize her, for Lily looked completely different with her getup that day.
He stared at her for a long while, but she didn’t notice him. It had been a few glasses of booze since then, so she had started to get tipsy, although she wasn’t drunk.
Her eyes were glazed, and the man in front of her stood up upon noticing this. “Are you drunk?” he asked as he walked over to sit beside her.
“No.” Lily smiled. She could still remember the things she wanted to forget, so she wasn’t drunk.
The man put his hand on her leg. “Why don’t I bring you somewhere to sober up?”
She looked down at his hand before staring up into his face. She shook her head. “No.”
No matter how much she looked at the man, Robert was leagues ahead of this man. After her time with Robert, she wondered if she could fall for any other man after their relationship had ended.
Oblivious to her thoughts, the man reached out to touch her face. “Let’s go. I’ll bring you somewhere fun.”
However, before he could feel her face, someone grabbed his hand. I must be hearing things, Lily thought when she heard a familiar voice.
“You really don’t think about the consequences of coming to a place like this, do you?” Robert mocked.
Robert? She slowly looked up, and even though her vision was blurred, she could still see his face clearly. Robert was still as aloof as ever, but at that moment in time, there was also a hint of mockery in his expression.
