Upon hearing Samson’s words, Lily laughed aloud. “You know, it’s not about how much effort you put in. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, things just don’t go your way. So, I suggest you take it easy.”
Samson smacked his lips. “Are you annoyed with me?”
It wasn’t exactly an annoyance, but having someone constantly meddling in their affairs was a bit uncomfortable.
Lily waved her hand. “No, it’s just that you’re always trying to play matchmaker for us. But let me tell you, it might just backfire.”
Robert never really liked Samson as he was always boasting about himself in front of the former.
Robert might have developed a kind of resentment toward her because of that.
Samson didn’t quite understand this, but seeing Lily speak with such conviction, he was left speechless.
Meanwhile, Robert had finished swimming several laps around the swimming pool. Just as he was about to climb out of the pool, a young lady approached him. Moreover, the swimsuit she wore was even more revealing than the one Lily had on. She walked over and sat by the edge of the pool, dipping her legs into the water and paddling her legs back and forth. Thus, the ripples id splashes caused by her kicks traveled over to him.
Then, Robert looked at her expressionlessly.
On the other hand, the young lady smiled. Tilting her head to the side, she asked, “Are you here alone?”
The young lady was dry, and her face was covered in thick makeup. A single glance was enough to tell that she wasn’t here to swim..
He didn’t say anything, so he pushed himself up using the ladder and got out of the pool.
Upon seeing that, she followed suit.
As he was shaking the water off him, the young lady said in a soft and gentle voice right next to him, “Why have I never seen you around here before?”
Continuing his actions, he turned to glance at her.
The young lady had a slender jaw, large eyes, and a nice figure. Moreover, she was rather petite, perhaps. even shorter than Lily.
Without changing his expression, he suddenly asked, “Do I seem like I’m here alone?”
The young lady was taken aback and didn’t seem to understand what he meant.
Then, he added, “Didn’t you notice the ring on my finger?”
At that moment, she lowered her gaze and looked toward his hands. Sure enough, he was wearing at wedding ring on his finger,
Thus, she blushed, opening and closing her mouth, but no words came out.

Robert sneered, and then he turned around and headed toward Lily. Despite being divorced, he had never taken off his wedding ring. It wasn’t as if he deliberately left it on, either. It was more like he had forgotten about it. Or, perhaps he was just used to it. Rather, it could also be that the thought of taking off his wedding ring before his divorce was announced to the public had never entered his mind.
Naturally, Lily saw the entire spectacle going on around Robert. Ever since the young lady approached him and sat down by the edge of the pool, she began to take notice.
She smiled and looked at him with a teasing expression.
The drink Robert had ordered had been served previously. When he walked over, Samson hurriedly gave up his seat. Thus, Robert sat down and downed the juice in one gulp.
Chuckling, Lily said. “That young lady’s expression changed rather drastically.”
Robert lifted his gaze and glanced at Lily without saying anything.
On the other hand, Samson was glaring at Lily from the side, indicating to her that the subject was taboo.
Still, Lily wasn’t the type to be obedient. The only reason she held back and endured everything during her time with the Taylor Family was that she was afraid of causing trouble for Robert. However, she didn’t care anymore. Thus, she continued, “She was such a pretty young lady too. Seriously, how could you be so cruel to her?”
Samson hissed. “What are you saying? Mr. Taylor is a man of principles! He’s not somebody that anybody can just approach without reason!”
Lily raised an eyebrow. “Oh, I see… Well…”
She only managed to say one word before shaking her head with a smile. “Forget it, pretend I didn’t say anything.”
To be honest, she wanted to ask if he had never allowed other women to approach him while he was entertaining clients.
In the past, Robert constantly had to entertain many clients. When men got together to socialize, it was the norm to take part in some form of sexual entertainment. Besides, getting young ladies to accompany them while they were drinking was no big deal anyway.
She didn’t believe Robert rejected all those women flocking to his side. That was simply impossible. Still, it would have been fine to ask if it were back then. But now, she had lost that right to ask.
