- 8.
Soon, Dad’s assistant showed up and wrote a divorce agreement, ordering Mom to leave with
nothing.
Grandma panicked and tried to kneel down to
Dad.
“Don’t be so cruel. Sweetie is sick, you’re
sending her to her death.”
I helped Grandma up. “Mom will be okay, you
don’t have to beg him.”
Grandma was frantic. “Ashley, listen to me!

Kneel down to your Dad, beg him. You can’t let the family break up!”
I didn’t kneel. I looked at him and said calmly,
“We can get divorced, but you’re the one who’s going to leave with nothing!”
“Whack!”
Dad slapped me hard across the face, glaring
at me. “You’re so disrespectful, get out!”
My face was burning, but I didn’t flinch. I’m his
daughter, and that’s what happens.
“Why can’t I say anything? You accused Mom
of sleeping with Uncle Frank, you called me a
bastard, can’t I defend myself?
I’m not trying to prove that I’m your daughter.
Mom needs to know some things, and everyone
here needs to know them too!”
“Ashley, say less, please, Dad is mad, do not
make him more angry!” Brittany ordered me,
pretending to be understanding!
I ignored Brittany and asked Dad, “You’re type
A blood, right?”
Dad looked confused. “What are you talking
about? I don’t have time for this!”
“You’re type A, Aunt Carol is type O, and
Brittany is type B. Did you know that?”
Dad stared at me in disbelief. Everyone was
shocked.
Mom grabbed my arm. “Ashley, why are you
saying this? What does this have to do with
Aunt Carol?”
“Ashley, don’t drag me into your family drama. I
know it’s hard for you, but don’t blame

Aunt Carol had been watching the show without saying a word.
She was three years younger than my parents
but looked ten years younger than Mom.
She wore fancy makeup and a $100,000 jade necklace. She had class.
Brittany agreed. “That’s right, Ashley. You’re
like a crazy dog, dragging everyone into this. What are you talking about?
Dad said I was adopted, so of course, my blood type is different from his. What are you trying to do?”
I looked at Aunt Carol. “You’re Brittany’s
mother. That’s why I’m dragging you into this!”
Mom was shocked. “No way. She’s your Dad’s
cousin. She’s never been married.”
<

Aunt Carol looked flustered. “You’re crazy. How
can you say something like that? Brittany was
picked up on the side of the road by your mother!”
Dad snapped out of it. “Don’t give me that
crap! I don’t believe you!”
He urged Mom. “Sign the papers!”
Mom looked at me blankly. I patted her hand, telling her not to panic. “Don’t sign anything. Trust me, I’ll get justice for us.”
I pulled out my phone and called my boyfriend. “Can you bring my laptop and those files over?”
Mom gasped. “When did you get a boyfriend?”
I smiled. “I’ll tell you later.”
Dad kept pushing Mom to sign the divorce

papers. Finally, my boyfriend, Justin, arrived with my stuff. Dad and Brittany were stunned.
Brittany looked at Justin in disbelief. “When did you two get together? Why didn’t I know?”
She liked Justin, she’d been chasing him for a long time.
She didn’t know we’d been together for three years. We kept it a secret because we were afraid our families would worry about us before college.
I looked at Brittany. “You’re not very good at this. You didn’t learn anything from your mom!”
I opened my laptop, plugged in a USB drive, and a video popped up. A man and a woman were
kissing.
The man was my dad, and the woman was Aunt
Carol.

<
They panicked. Dad rushed over to smash my
laptop.
My boyfriend blocked him!
Mom slapped Aunt Carol. “I was so good to
you. You’re both scumbags!”
Aunt Carol was humiliated but tried to deny it.
“We were drunk that night. We just kissed. Ashley, you’ve gone too far. You shouldn’t do this to your Dad!”
Dad was furious, pointing at me. “Turn it off,
now! Making fake videos is illegal. Don’t make me call the cops!”
I smiled. “I’ll call them myself!”
I dialed 911 in front of Dad. “I want to report my
father for two murder plots!”
く
Mom collapsed on the floor.
Dad stared at me in disbelief.
Grandpa asked anxiously, “What’s going on?
You can’t just say things like that!”
I said firmly, “I’m telling the truth. I’ll take
responsibility for everything I say!”
- 10.
Brittany charged at me, trying to slap me.
“You’re out of line! How can you do this to
Dad? You’re making things up! Dad shouldn’t
have raised you!”
Before her hand could reach my face, I slapped
her.
“You’re the bastard, the freak! I’m going to tell
everyone about your secrets!”
<
The comments changed sides.
“This is insane, Brittany isn’t even adopted.”
“This guy is sleeping with his cousin. This is so
twisted.”
“Ashley is awesome. Without her, her mother
would never know. We need to stand up to
these pieces of trash.”
I took out two paternity test reports and handed
them to Dad. “See who the bastard is!”
One was between Brittany and Dad.
The other was between me and Dad.
The test showed that I was Dad’s daughter, but
Brittany wasn’t. Dad looked like he’d been
struck by lightning.
(
<
Seeing his face, I said loudly, “Brittany isn’t
adopted. She’s Aunt Carol’s daughter. Carol and
Dad have been together for a long time, and he
always thought Brittany was his.
Mom was the one who was kept in the dark.
She raised a couple’s child for twenty years.
Carol’s real name is Lisa, and she’s Dad’s
mistress. They made up this fake relative thing
so they could have an affair.
Lisa didn’t want to raise the kid, so they
decided to leave Brittany on the side of the
road. Dad took Mom to pick her up. They’re
both disgusting.”
I held up a copy of my paternity test report.
“This is the test between me and Dad. Mom
never did anything to hurt him!”
The report went around the crowd.
<
The relatives started yelling at Dad.
“What kind of person does this?? You’re the
most inhuman, cheating on your wife behind her
back like that!”
“How are you gonna make Sweetie leave with
nothing after that! Not Gonna happen!”
“He’s a demon, what happened to his heart?
Ashley is her daughter you’re accusing?! May
bad luck surround him for the rest of his life!”
Some of the guys rushed at Dad, but I stopped
them. “Don’t hit him. He won’t have a good life
anyway.”
Dad was still stuck on Brittany not being his
daughter.
He choked Lisa. “You played me! Who’s
Brittany’s father!?”
Of course, Lisa denied it.
“Don’t listen to her, darling. She’s trying to
cause trouble.”
Out of the three of us siblings. Dad loved
Brittany the most.
When we were little, his shoulder was Brittany’s
personal ride.
My brother and I never got to do that.
Brittany was confused too. Maybe she didn’t
know who her father was.
Lisa was about to pass out when Dad let her
- go. He glared at me.
“I raised a terrible daughter. Even if you are my
daughter, I don’t accept you.”
く
I said calmly, “I don’t want you as my father
either.”
Dad stormed off, and I saw the fear in his eyes.
He was trying to escape before the police
arrived.
- 11.
My boyfriend and our relatives stopped Dad.
Dad panicked and said, “I’ll give you half of
everything. Can we just get divorced?”
Mom finally snapped out of it and slapped Dad.
“How could you do this to me? You cheated on
me for over twenty years, and you blamed me
and our daughter. Are you even human?”
Dad didn’t say anything. He was like a lion who
had lost all his strength.
<
The relatives kept yelling at him.
“You can’t just leave with half!
“You wanted Sweetie to leave with nothing? You can’t make up for what you’ve done!”
I suddenly heard police sirens in the distance.
Dad softened his tone and said to me, “Ashley, I messed up. I’ll leave with nothing. The money is for you and your mom. Let me go, please?”
Aunt Carol rushed over and grabbed Dad, demanding, “Did you kill my husband!?”
Grandma asked me, “Do you know something?
Did your father kill your uncle?”
She stared at me.
I said firmly, “Yes!”
<
Dad was furious. “You’re a monster! What proof
do you have that I killed your uncle? It was a
car accident!”
Dad was right. Uncle Frank died in a car
accident, and that’s what the police said.
I didn’t argue with him. I looked at him as he
panicked.
The police arrived and asked, “Who called?”
“I did.”
The officer looked me up and down. “Do you
have evidence? Why are you saying your father
killed someone?”
Lisa tried to defend Dad. “She’s just mad at her
father. It’s a misunderstanding.”
Dad explained, “I want to divorce her mother,
and she couldn’t handle it. Sorry to bother you.”
<

“Is that true?” The officer looked at me,
unconvinced.

I calmly took a tape recorder out of my bag and turned it on.
The first voice I heard was Dad’s. “Cut the
brake line, but make it look like an accident.”
Then Lisa’s voice came on. “What if we get caught?”
Dad said, “No way. I learned this from a professional. And your brother–in–law’s car is
almost ten years old. It’s going to be hard to
tell.”
Dad stared at me in shock.
The officer asked, “Where did you get this
recording?”
く
9:08
Lisa denied it. “This is fake! Technology is so
advanced now.”
I said, “I secretly put recorders and trackers in
Dad’s suit, briefcase, and even his phone.”
Dad looked at me, speechless.
The officer asked, “Why are you reporting this
now? What’s the other murder?”
- 12.
I paused. At first, I didn’t believe it.

Dad always treated Mom so well, I still had
hope for him. I thought that if he admitted what
he did, I would help him get a lawyer.
But when he killed Uncle Frank, I knew he
couldn’t change. I decided to convince Dad to
turn himself in.
く
But he accused Mom of sleeping with Uncle
Frank and said I wasn’t his daughter.
That was the last straw, and I decided to bring
him down.
I said quietly, “At first, I didn’t have enough
evidence. I was going to wait until after Uncle
Frank’s funeral to convince him to turn himself
in.”
The officer told me to continue.
“The other murder is that my Dad killed his first
wife.”
Mom and Dad collapsed on the floor.
I helped Mom up. She grabbed my hand and
asked, “Am I your Dad’s first wife? He said he
was never married when we met.”
Grandma said. “That’s right Ho said your mom
く
Grandma said, “That’s right. He said your mom
was his first love.”
I took out the documents from Dad’s marriage,
even a picture of his first wife, and showed it to
the police.
“Dad cheated on his first wife with Mom, but he
told Mom he was single. At that time, Mom and
his first wife were pregnant.
Maybe he really loved Mom and was afraid she
would leave him if she knew he was married, so
he kept it a secret.”
“You’re lying!”
Dad interrupted me.
I asked, “Do you know how I found out about
this?”
