The two men just stood there, watching Mr.
Jones leave. The millions of dollars walked
out the door with him.
The boss was furious. He smashed his
utensils and pointed at Mike. “You idiot! I
asked you to order a meal! What’s wrong with
you?!”
Lily couldn’t stand Mike getting scolded. “I
was the one who ordered the lamb tripe soup.
You can yell at me instead.”
The boss sneered. “You think you’re getting
off the hook? Either you go convince Mr.
Jones, or you’re fired!”
Lily didn’t seem to think she had done
anything wrong. “How is this my fault? How

was I supposed to know he couldn’t eat lamb
tripe? I told them not to put lamb in it. What
else do you want me to do?”
Then she pointed at me. “She was the one
who told me to order lamb tripe soup. Ashley
told me Mr. Jones liked it!”
Chapter 2

I widened my eyes, like, “What the heck are
you talking about? When did I ever say that?
Why are you lying?”
“I asked you at your desk this morning.
Everyone saw it. Don’t even try to deny it.”
Of course, Mike jumped in. “Yeah, I saw Lily
go talk to Ashley this morning. She totally told
Lily to order the lamb tripe soup.‘
“Everyone in the office saw it, Ashley. You
can’t deny it.”
The boss glanced at everyone. They had seen Lily go to my desk, so they nodded.
Of course. She made sure to speak extra
loudly at my desk this morning, didn’t she?
Now the boss turned his icy glare on me.
“Ashley, what the hell? Have I not been good
to you? You’re trying to screw me over at a
crucial moment like this!”
“Boss, I know why she did it!” Mike blurted
out, practically begging for praise.
“She already got another job offer, she’s
bailing on us. She wants to create chaos
before she leaves!”
This was exactly what happened last time.
Even after sending Lily away, these two were
still out to get me.
The boss’s face turned red. “Seriously? I was
planning on promoting you, and this is how
you repay my trust? We’ll see who else in this
industry wants to hire you!”
I shot Mike a death glare and turned to the
boss. “Boss, you’re way too smart to let these
people pull the wool over your eyes.”
“He says I’m leaving. Does he have any proof?
No? Then it’s slander.”
The boss was still fuming. “He’s your

boyfriend! Why would he lie about you?”
I nodded slowly. “Good point.”
Then I whipped out my phone and started
tapping away.
“There have been a lot of things going
missing from work lately. I have too much
stuff at my desk, so I installed a camera in
case something happened. Guess it paid off.”
I handed my phone to the boss. It showed my
conversation with Lily in perfect clarity.
“I told her to get a fancy order. I didn’t even
bring up the food she should order”
The boss watched the video, face getting
even colder. He had been played by an intern
in front of all his employees. He probably
wanted to kill Lily right now.
“And the one who wants to jump ship isn’t
me, it’s him!”
