She went down like a sack of potatoes.
The smart ones already fainted.
The paramedics dragged her away.
Hank just stood there, legs shaking.
“This is… a mistake…” Hank mumbled, then
stopped. He couldn’t take back all his lies.
Before Ronnie’s dad, the airport owner, could speak, the airline executives jumped to
defend Ronnie and me.
“You disobeyed air traffic control, then you
lied to cover your ass. We can’t trust you with
a plane or passengers ever again!”
The airline rep was blunt. “Hank, you’re fired, blacklisted from flying, permanently!”
<
Ronnie crossed her arms. “The company took
care of you, but you’re not done yet. You and
Susie slandered us, and we’re gonna sue!”
Hank’s legs gave way and he collapsed in a
heap.
The woman who wanted me arrested came
over and slapped him, twice. “You’re scum!
Blaming everyone else, even your wife! I can’t
stand guys like you!”
Hank just stared at the police, who seemed to
be ignoring the assault.
I went to the bathroom.
I washed my face, tears streaming down my
face.
く
I finally got my revenge on Hank and Susie.
When I was done, Ronnie handed me a towel.
“When are you dumping that loser, Hank?”
A month ago, the airport owner sent Ronnie to train with me.
I didn’t like the idea of working with the boss‘ daughter, but she was talented and we
became friends.
I had called her in today to cover for me.
Without her father and the airline executives, I would be a normal girl at the mercy of these people.
I dried my face. “I’m not divorcing him right now.”
<
“What? Do you still love him?” Ronnie’s face
turned sour. “I’m one to preach, but Hank is a
horrible partner and husband. He framed you
at first chance!”
“He’s not worth it. And if I leave now, he gets
half of everything, including my inheritance.”
If I hadn’t been killed in my past life, I might
have let Hank off the hook.
But this time, I’m not letting it go.
I got a call from the hospital.
Hank was roughed up by the passengers.
He was in Cityville General.

Hank was covered in bandages.
“Serves him right,” I thought to myself.
As soon as he saw me, he looked away.
Then he saw the thermos.
“Rain…” he said, all pitiful.
I put the soup on the table. “Don’t give me that. I won’t forget what you tried to do. This is just me being nice.”
I know Hank.
He’s arrogant and insecure.

plotting something.
If I act cold, he’ll think I’m easy to fool.
As soon as I sat down, Hank grabbed my hand. “Rain, I messed up. Please, let me
explain.”
“You weren’t on the plane, so you didn’t know how bad it was. I just went crazy. I knew I’d
lose my job. My family needs that insurance money!”
Hank started crying.
“Susie didn’t help. She made me do it. But
you were the only one in the tower…”
“I did it because I had no choice.”
