“I don’t, Jenny, I love you.”
“I’m going nuts without you. And it’s all my
fault.
“When I was with you, I was happy. I wanted
someone to love me. I wanted a family.”
“And you and the old man destroyed it, all I
wanted to do was love you and it was your
fault.”
Mark cried.
I looked at Mark.
“Do you know our wedding day?”
“Do you know our wedding day?”
Mark froze.
I stared at him.
I laughed and said, “I do, the date is carved
into my brain forever and that is the date your
lover told me that you guys slept together.”
I looked at him.
She told me.
Mark went silent.
I went with it, telling him, “I love you” now.
It was like he was back, he was with me, then
It was too little, too late.
On the day I wanted to never see Mark, I got
a phone call from the lawyer.
The old man was dying, and he wanted to see
- me.
He had cared for me and looked out for me, I
needed to be there.
I went back and saw the Thompson’s.
The old man looked tired.
He looked sad.
“Jenny, I’m sorry, my family is sorry for what
has happened.”
く
I did not have any schooling and all I wanted
to do was get into that company. I never
thought of the long term. And that old man,
was looking out for me.
He ruined my family’s name.
I said, “I don’t blame you, I made a choice. So
don’t blame anyone.”
“Mark was just a confused guy and would
make a bad ending, and I asked you to give
him a chance.”
The lawyer gave a contract.
The old man gave me money.
He even gave me the company.
He gave Mark a villa and some of the
L
I said, “I can’t. I’ve done it all.”
“And it’s Mark, I love him.”
The old man loved his family, he gave them a
path.
Even with the lives of others.
I do not believe it.
I know better.
If I did, I would be in pain.
I was honest, and the old man got hurt.
Mark looked at me and did nothing, I was
going to leave.
When I got to the doors, the old man stopped
- me.
“You have broken him.”
“You have changed him.”
I went to get a cab.
The car took me to a good place.
I did not stop, and I did not turn around.
