Shiloh Turner had always held the belief that, even in the absence of love and warmth in a marriage, mutual respect was the bare minimum.
For the past five years of her secret marriage to Adrian Frost, she had done her best to play the role of a dutiful wife and mother.
“Congratulations, you’re pregnant,” said the doctor.
After leaving the hospital, Shiloh couldn’t wait to share the good news with Adrian. However, she couldn’t reach him. When she called Jett, she found out Adrian had gone to pick up their twin sons.
Deciding to wait at home, she even asked the kitchen to prepare a special meal.
But as time ticked by, neither Adrian nor the kids returned. Shiloh started to worry.
Adrian’s phone was still turned off.
Just as Shiloh was about to grab her coat and head out to look for them, a video message popped up on her phone.
It was a fancy restaurant. Adrian, dressed in a tailored black suit, was seated next to their twin sons. Across the table was a woman Shiloh knew all too well–Jessie Lloyd, Adrian’s first love.
The video showed a cozy candlelit dinner, the four of them laughing and chatting. Marty Frost’s cheerful voice called out to Jessie, while Adrian’s rare, tender smile lit up his face. The caption on the viral video read, “A perfect family.”
In the video, Jessie asked Marty, “Who’s better, Jessie or Mommy?”
Marry said, “Jessie. His response stabbed Shiloh right in the heart. Unable to bear it, she ran to the bathroom, overcome with nausea.
Married in secret for five years, with four–year–old twin sons, Shiloh had never experienced his tenderness. or affection in public–yet today, she saw it directed at another woman.
That night, Adrian returned with his sleepy sons.
The villa was dark. When he turned on the lights, he saw the untouched meal on the table.
Frowning, he used the landline to call Shiloh.
As soon as she picked up, Adrian’s sharp and accusing voice rang out. “Shiloh, do you even care about the family?”
Lying in a hospital bed, pale and exhausted, Shiloh replied coldly, “Adrian, let’s get a divorce.”
The call ended abruptly, replaced by a busy tone.
Two years later in Oklark Village
A sudden storm disrupted the peaceful village.

Shiloh had just put her daughter to sleep when she heard the sound of a car pulling up outside. The doorbell rang, and with a frown, she walked to the window.
A long black car was parked at the gate, rain pouring down so hard it was impossible to make out the figures outside.
Not wanting any trouble, Shiloh turned off the bedside lamp and remained silent.
Outside. Jeff Burch looked up at the extinguished light and then at the car, sighing in frustration as he rang. the bell again.
Shiloh lay back in bed and silenced the doorbell entirely. But soon, persistent knocking echoed through
the house.
With no choice, she picked up her phone and connected to the intercom system.
Her voice was cold as she said, “If you don’t leave now, I’ll call the police.”
Hearing her voice, Jeff quickly responded, “I’m so sorry to disturb you so late, but the rain is too heavy. and we can’t drive any further. My boss’s child has a fever, and we heard from the villagers that you might have fever medicine for kids. We’re willing to pay any price.”
Shiloh refused without hesitation.
Just as she was about to disconnect, Jeff pleaded, “Please, ma’am. We’re not here to cause trouble. My boss is Adrian Frost, the president of the Qadena Group. Whatever you ask, we’ll pay.”
Hearing his name again gave Shiloh a shock.
A clap of thunder startled her daughter awake.
The anxiety of seeing Adrian again, mixed with the bitterness of the past, was quickly overshadowed by her daughter’s cries. Shiloh put her phone down and rushed to comfort her.
Hearing the child’s cries, Jeff doubled down. “Ma’am, you have a daughter, so you know how dangerous a fever can be for a child. Please, help us out. We’ll only take the medicine and leave immediately.”
A child. Yes, I have two sons, even if they don’t love me.
This was a remote area, and the nearest hospital was two hours away through the mountains.
Ten minutes later, Jeff was stunned when he saw Shiloh’s cold, familiar eyes. “M… Mrs. Frost?”
Standing inside the door, Shiloh handed over a bottle of children’s fever medicine.
Shiloh said, “I’m not Mrs. Frost anymore. Take the medicine and leave.”
In the back seat of a sleek black Maybach, Adrian opened his eyes. His sharp, dark gaze cut through the rain–soaked window, radiating the commanding presence of a man used to power.
Holding the feverish Marty in his arms, Adrian stared intently at the woman in the rain. His expression was unreadable.
The rain was relentless. Even with an umbrella, Shiloh’s clothes were splashed and damp.
