Just as Shiloh turned to leave, Jeff called out, “Mrs. Frost, don’t you want to see the boys? They’ve missed you so much.”
Suppressing the ache in her heart, Shiloh replied without turning back. “No, I don’t think that’s necessary.”
Adrian, who had just stepped out of the car, overheard her response. His expression instantly darkened, and the air around him grew colder by the second.
He said in a cold voice, “Shiloh.”
She paused briefly but didn’t look back or respond. Instead, she shut the door and went inside without hesitation.
Adrian stared at her retreating figure, which overlapped with the memory of her walking away two years
ago.
Jeff glanced at the pouring rain and hesitated. “Mr. Frost, I’ll check if anyone in the village is willing to let us stay for the night.”
On the second floor, Shiloh stood by the window, watching Adrian return to the car and Jeff rush off with an umbrella.
Closing the window, she n
a hand to her racing heart, feeling a momentary numbness.
For the past two years, as a mother, she hadn’t gone a day without missing her twin sons. She had even secretly kept tabs on them.
But she couldn’t just take the boys away from the Frost family by force, especially since they seemed to prefer Jessie.
Shiloh returned to the bathroom and caught her reflection in the mirror. The forgotten five years of her marriage resurfaced with a stabbing pain, making her tremble slightly.
Unable to sleep, Shiloh stood behind the curtain, her eyes fixed on the car below.
Suddenly, Jeff’s anxious voice called out, “Mrs. Frost! Something’s wrong. Marty has a high fever and just
vomited!”
Shiloh hesitated but couldn’t harden her heart any further.
She opened the door and let Adrian and his people in, quickly setting to work on reducing Marty’s fever.
In the living room, Adrian’s sharp eyes discreetly scanned the surroundings. The house was filled with children’s items and toys, a scene that sent a wave of coldness through his heart.
He recalled the villagers mentioning that Shiloh had a daughter. His lips curled into a cold sneer,
Everyone was soaked from the rain, but the house’s underfloor heating provided some comfort.
While Shiloh tended to Marty, she could feel Adrian’s piercing gaze lingering on her. After finishing her work, she gave a few instructions and retreated upstairs.
Meanwhile, Adrian discovered that Travis was also running a fever.

Adrian took care of the children the whole without sleeping.
For two years, Adrian had been both father and mother to his sons. Life had been just like this- exhausting.
The next morning, Shiloh woke to her daughter’s sweet kisses.
The little one didn’t cry or fuss, lying quietly beside her.
Shiloh changed Nora’s diaper and dressed her in a pale pink dress before carrying her downstairs.
Elma Hardin, who was preparing breakfast, noticed Jeff sleeping on the couch and made extra oatmeal and side dishes for him.
The fever medicine Shiloh had given worked well, and by morning, both Travis and Marty were feeling better.
The two boys sat to the side, cautiously eyeing Shiloh and Nora.
Travis whispered to Marty, “She looks like Mom.”
Marty, still sulking, replied, “But what about that little girl? And didn’t Mom leave us before? She’s a bad
woman.”
Nora sat in her high chair, drinking milk and curiously observing the unfamiliar faces at the table.
After finishing her milk, she handed the bottle to Adrian, who was sitting nearby.
At just over a year old, Nora had just started talking, her words short but clear.
“Put,” she said firmly.
As Shiloh reached for the bottle, Adrian beat her to it, their hands brushing brielly. Shiloh quickly pulled her hand back, avoiding further contact.
Nora, thinking they were playing with her, grabbed Adrian’s finger and placed her small hand in his,
Adrian’s eyes shifted between Shiloh and Nora. The little girl’s bright, lively eyes were a mirror image of Shiloh’s.
Nora’s interest quickly moved on. Letting go of Adrian’s hand, she waved at Marty and Travis on the other
side of the table.
“Play, she said sweetly
Shiloh picked up her daughter and kissed her check. With a gentle look in her eyes, she said, “Nora, be good. I will play with you”
Seeing how lose Nora and Shiloh were, Travis looked a litle envious, while Marty turned his head away, pretending not tocare,
Adrian, noticing the sadness on Travis’s lace, directed a cold, sharp look at Shiloh.
After breakfast, Adrian and Jell went out to find a way out.
After confirming that they would leave today, Shiloh did not dwell on the matter of the two children.
