I was about to ruin Ashley.
She came to me first.
Ashley smiled at me.

“Emily, I was wrong. I was young and dumb.
I’m sorry.”
“We’re sisters. I hope you can forgive me. I
made dinner as an apology.”
She pulled me to the table.
She served me and my parents.
My parents were surprised.
I knew what she was doing.
I forced a smile and pulled my hand away.
Her face changed.
She collapsed on the floor.
I watched.
My parents frowned and went to check on
her.
“What’s wrong with you now?”
Ashley looked embarrassed.
She started to cry.
“I had a glass of water before dinner and I
got a stomachache…”

My dad interrupted.
“What did you drink?”
Ashley looked at me.
“Emily gave me the water…”
The room went silent.
I laughed.
I knew she was up to something.
My parents didn’t want to know the truth.
They helped Ashley onto the couch.
They were going to call the doctor.
I tapped the table.
“Ashley, I didn’t give you any water.”
Ashley glared at me.
“There are no security cameras. I can’t prove
it.”
“It’s just a stomachache. It’ll be fine.”
She acted hurt.
I wanted to hit her.
“Yes there are! I put them in for you!”
Just in case she started acting up.
