My fiancé and babysitter’s daughter forced me to cancel the wedding
Chapter 1
The day I was supposed to get married, my
fiancé – who’d been MIA for the better part
of a month – waltzed in holding hands with
our housekeeper’s daughter and demanded I
call off the wedding.
I almost laughed. “Honey, you’re not even the
groom. What wedding are you trying to
cancel?”
He clearly had no clue he wasn’t the real deal,
the true heir to the Callahan fortune.
My marriage arrangement had been switched
weeks ago, to none other than the long–lost
Callahan son, Jake Callahan, who’d recently

The wedding was pure chaos – a sea of
faces, a real circus.
Suddenly, the church doors flew open, and
there he was: Liam, my runaway fiancé,
looking like he was headed into battle.
He was holding hands with Maisie, the
housekeeper’s kid, and get this she was
wearing a wedding dress, too!
The whole place went silent. Everyone just
stared, like they were watching a train wreck.
Liam, all puffed up with righteous indignation,
bellowed out loud enough for everyone to
hear, “Everyone, Maisie and I are truly in love!
I can’t go through with this wedding!”

Then he zeroed in on me. “Janice, I’m sorry. I
can’t marry anyone but Maisie. Call off the
wedding, and let her be the bride.”
Maisie, playing the damsel in distress, chimed
in, “Janice, please don’t blame Liam. It’s all
my fault.”
Liam cut her off, all serious. “There’s no fault!
Love is love…”
I couldn’t help but interrupt their little drama
club performance. “Are you two done yet?
You’re not even part of this wedding, so
what’s all this about canceling it?”
Liam blinked, confused. “What are you talking
about?”
Then Jake Callahan strolled up beside me,
cool as ice. “What Janice means is, this is our
wedding. Uninvited guests should leave.”
“And who the heck are you?” Liam sputtered.
I hooked my arm through Jake’s. “This is my groom. Jake Callahan, son of the Callahan
family. Now, why don’t you two go play
Somewhere else?”
Maisie piped up in her best innocent voice:
“But… but I thought Liam was the Callahan’s
only son?”
Liam looked pleadingly at Mr. and Mrs.
Callahan. “Mom? Dad?”
Mrs. Callahan just shrugged. “Oh honey,
didn’t I tell you? You’re not our biological son.
There was a mix–up at the hospital when you
were born.”
Mr. Callahan rolled his eyes. “You two go on,
get out of here. You’re embarrassing
yourselves, and messing up my son and
Janice’s big day.”
