I hit decline and turned off my phone, walking
away alone.
Looking back on everything, it was like a
movie reel playing in my head, a scene–by-
scene replay of my memories with Jason.
I’m going to erase it all.
I got home and the door was open. I heard
Jason on the phone, saying something about
calling the cops.
“What the hell are you guys doing? You can’t
find one person? If anything happens to
Sarah, I’m shutting this hospital down.”
His overprotective act just made me sick.
I’ll never trust Jason again
L
I’ll never trust Jason again.
As I walked in, I saw Jason pacing, looking
anxious with red, bloodshot eyes.
He spotted me and ran over, pulling me into a
hug.
“Sarah, where’d you go? You scared the hell
out of me.”
“I thought you were kidnapped, I was about to
call the cops!”
Jason held me tight, trembling slightly, like his
feelings were real.
He’s a great actor. I’d never know if I hadn’t
found out his secret.
L
Ever since I found out the truth, my body has
been rejecting Jason.
I stepped back, creating distance between us.
Jason’s arms fell limp, and he looked
panicked at my cold demeanor.
“Sarah, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I’m just tired. I want to rest.”
As I turned to leave, Jason grabbed me from
behind.
“Sarah, don’t look at me like that. I’m sorry. It
was stupid to keep letting you save me, I’m
the one who keeps getting you hurt.”
Jason’s eyes were red as he knelt down,
<
clutching my feet.
“Does it hurt a lot?”
I didn’t answer, just felt cold inside.
I gave him my heart, and he trashed it,
laughing behind my back.
And now he’s putting on a show.
“No, I won’t let your leg have long term
damage. I’ll call my friend’s uncle right now
and make him come back and fix your leg.”
Before I could say no, Jason was dragging me
to the car, heading to the hospital.
Chapter 2
L
At the hospital, I wanted to turn around and
run, whether Jason was sincere or faking it, I
didn’t want anything to do with him.
But he grabbed my hand, stopping me.
“Sarah, just calm down. I’m going to get your
leg fixed, so you can get back to racing and
kill it out there.”
Hearing that, I turned back, trying to find a
hint of a trick in his expression.
But he looked completely serious.
My mind was in turmoil. Had Jason realized
his mistake? Did he actually love me?
A part of me wanted to believe him, give him.
Г
one last chance.
I let him lead me by the hand to the operating
room.
Jason’s hand was warm, and for the first
time, it felt like he actually cared.
“Jason!”
I grabbed his hand, asking him a serious
question.
“Yeah, what’s up?”
Jason raised his other hand, gently stroking
my cheek.
“Do you love me?”
I needed to know.
“Silly.”
“Of course I love you. That’s why you need to
listen to the doctors, and get better, okay?”
Jason kissed me on the forehead and
reluctantly left.
As soon as he was gone, the door to the
operating room swung open, and a bunch of
people walked in.
I heard laughter again.
“Hahaha, that girl’s a total idiot.
“I’ve seen stupid people, but she’s the
dumbest I’ve ever met.”
く
“Did your uncle arrive yet?”
“Almost.
“I can’t wait to see the look on Sarah’s face
when the scientist tests his new product on
her.”
“I heard it’s really painful, like excruciatingly
painful.”
Brittany said smugly, then tapped my cheek.
“Sarah, you deserve this. You had to try and
steal the championship from me.”
Hearing that, I panicked.
Jason tricked me again! I was blind to have
trusted him. My life was given to Brittany’s
uncle to test his new product.
The so–called finding me a doctor to heal me
was another tool for revenge.
I tried to open my eyes, to wake up, but it
was useless, I couldn’t move.
The taunts started to fade, and I got more
and more scared.
Soon, someone stuck a needle in my arm, and
I wanted to scream for them to stop, but I
couldn’t speak.
My body started changing, like I was stuck
between fire and ice, burning one minute,
freezing the next.
r
I was in so much pain, tears streamed down
my face, and my body spasmed
uncontrollably.
I felt like I was dying.
Before I blacked out, I heard a deep voice.
“Jason picked a good subject for my
experiment. She’s a tough one.”
