Chapter 5
I knew Jason wouldn’t let things go. He’s a
guy who doesn’t give up until he gets what he
wants.
To avoid any further interaction with him, I
decided to go as soon as the race was over.
L
Mark saw that I was troubled and smiled,
trying to reassure me.
“Don’t worry about it. It doesn’t matter how
much Jason loves you, you’ve already moved
on.”
“I’m here to face everything with you,
including what happens in the future. You
won’t ever have to do it alone.”
I smiled and held him. After I started dating
him, I started to feel relaxed and happy. It’s
all because of him.
“You’re the greatest thing that has ever
happened to me.”
“I’m going to marry you after the race!”
Г
“I’ll be waiting!”
Jason would always come by to visit me at
training. After I gave him the cold shoulder a
few times, he behaved and kept his distance.
I pretended not to notice.
Before the race, Mark went missing and I
didn’t know where he went. I was calling him
constantly, but he had turned his phone off.
He doesn’t have any friends here, and he is
not a person to just wander around.
He had to be in trouble.
I was about to call the cops when Jason
called me.
く
“If you want to find Mark, meet me where we
first became close.”
I felt a wave of anxiety. I was right, Mark was
with Jason.
I grabbed my keys and drove over. I knew
where Jason was talking about.
When I got there, I saw Jason walk out.
“Sarah, you say you don’t love me, but you
know where we first met.”
“That just means you still have feelings for
me, right?”
Looking at the crazy Jason, I grabbed him by
the collar.
Г
“Jason, where’s Mark? Where is he?”
Instead of pushing me off, Jason asked me
seriously.
“If you answer my question first.”
I knew he wouldn’t back down if I didn’t give
him an answer, so I decided to do what he
wanted.
“Jason, I loved you in the past.”
Jason’s eyes lit up, but I immediately
shattered his hope.
“But you killed my love, you threw away my heart. You are the one who made me stop
loving you, you just make me hate you. Don’t
even talk about love.”
Jason stepped back, full of regret and
bitterness.
Soon after, he wiped his tears.
He made a call, and someone walked over
with Mark.
I was so relieved that Mark was okay.
I ran over and hugged him.
“I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.”
“No, don’t blame yourself. I’m doing fine.”
Jason stood by us, watching us hug.
He tightened his fists.
Everything that was happening today was
caused by him. He couldn’t blame anyone
else.
Just as Mark and I were about to leave, Jason
asked for one last thing.
I could see the reluctance in his eyes.
“Sarah, before you leave, can I have one last
hug?”
“Just so we can say our last goodbyes,
okay?”
“No, based on our current relationship, we are just strangers. And I have a fiance, so why would I be hugging another man?”
L
I said and left with Mark.
Suddenly, a broken–down race car sped
towards us.
As soon as Jason saw the race car
approaching, he acted instinctively and
pushed me and Mark out of the way.
He was knocked out of the way and landed
on the rocks, his whole body covered in
blood.
The driver came out, and it was Brittany.
She had no strength and began to cry.
Mark and I came to and ran over to Jason.
He had marks on his face, like it was covered
in blood.
“You are finally hugging me!”
After Jason said that, he slowly closed his
eyes. I carried him to the hospital.
But it was too late, Jason was gone.
If I had known this would happen, I would
have hugged him and said my last goodbyes
instead of when he was dying.
As soon as Jason’s family came to the
hospital, I decided to go back.
I looked up at the sky, and I sighed.
Brittany was found quilty of murdering endl
Г
Brittany was found guilty of murdering and
sentenced to death. Jason’s family didn’t
want to let our family get off, and they were
continuously suppressed.
I had learned everything after the race, and I
had lived up to what my coach thought of me.
I had won!
Before I left, I bought Jason his favorite
flowers and visited his grave.
“If time was reset, would you still hurt me for
Brittany?”
But there was nobody to answer.
“Jason, take care of yourself!”
“I’m going to go now.”
As a gush of wind flew by, it was as if he had
nodded!
