The blood was from my open wounds and my
hands that were struggling to climb.
I knew that one day these people would kill
me for Anya.
They were never my family.
Mom ran to the window and touched the
dried blood, sobbing.

My brother looked troubled. “Why, Chloe?”
“I told you not to fall for it, it’s a sob story!
She must have been saved and taken away!”
Anya went after them.
Dad pulled her in and frowned.
“She tried to prove her innocence by jumping
into the ocean, and you won’t let it go?”
My brother grabbed Anya and took her to the
window.
“Chloe can’t swim, how painful must it have
been for her?”

“Go check the water, then say that slander!”
My brother pressed Anya against the window,
and she was half out.
She screamed. “Stop it!”
“I can’t swim!”
My brother froze and was pale.
“What did you say?!”
He pulled Anya back.
Dad was confused, and Mom was crying.

“Calm down, Aaron. We already lost Chloe,
we can’t lose Anya!”
“They’re both your sisters, you can’t let one
kill the other!”
Aaron slapped Anya.
“Dad! She lied to me years ago!”
“Who saved me if she can’t swim?!”
“Say it!”
Anya covered her face, and was silent.
My brother started ripping her clothes.

“Stop!”
Anya was trying to get him off her, but he still
tore her clothes, showing her back.
“How?”
My brother’s eyes lost focus, and were numb.
“The doctor said you crashed against the
rocks, and the scar would stay with you…”
My parents were shocked, “You said Anya
saved you?”
My brother was suffering.
