“You think Sarah will listen to you? You
mistreated her for so many years, she must
hate you so much, is she helping you? She
helped you kidnap me so you could commit
murder, I am going to send you to prison.”
“See this pin on my shirt? You’ll see your
daughter with the police waiting for you after
the car has come onto land.”
“My dad is too old for her. But if I die, she
helped my parents capture you, so my parents must be really grateful for her, She
can replace me with them, you can be with
and she will be banny
く
“And what about you? You’re just her
stepping stone.”
“Don’t listen to her lies. Sarah wouldn’t do
that!” Sarah’s mom yells, “Just kill her and
let’s get out of here!”
“She has…”
“Shut up!” I yell, my face flushed, “Don’t think
I don’t know what you’re planning! You’re
trying to get rid of Sarah, because there is no
going back!”
“The police are investigating your crimes, but
if you let someone die, everything will be
more than that, you can get rid of them.”
Sarah’s dad looks at Sarah’s mom, confused.
く
“Think about it. If that wasn’t the case, why
would you have him do it?”
When Dad and Ethan’s boat caught up,
Sarah’s dad and mom were fighting, one with
a black eye, the other with a bloody nose.
Ethan is holding my hand, he is trembling.
“Thank God, you’re safe.”
My legs are shaky too.
I pull off the cheap necklace and squeeze it.
“It’s a good thing the necklace was so cheap.
You were able to find me after it was
located.”
Г
The necklace was a birthday gift from my dad
to my mom when I was five.
At the time, my mom was obsessed with a
new Cartier necklace and was looking at
pictures of it every day, waiting for it to go on
sale.
Dad also tried to memorize the style so he
could buy it for her as a birthday gift.
Unfortunately, he waited so long, and when it
went on sale, it was sold out.
On the way back, he passed a two–dollar
store.
There was a necklace sitting on the window.

Dad excitedly bought it.
Then, he got yelled by Mom and he wasn’t
able to sleep with her in the room.
Dad racked his brains and came up with an
idea.
“Honey, that’s so romantic, what if something
ever happened to you, I could be there for
you!”
“Bah! That’s the worst excuse I’ve ever heard!
Then I don’t have to make you any more
excuses, you can get out!”
Later, I got the necklace.
I wear it as a sign of how much I really like
the idea.
Mom gave Dad a chance to make it up to her.
I forgot to take it off later.
Today, it saved my life.
“Dad, why did you give Sarah your
membership card?”
I couldn’t have been so easily defeated.
Dad looks around sheepishly. “Did I? I don’t know anything about this, daughter, weren’t you with Ethan at the time? To the people who work with you. So why did you get hurt? You can not forgive him that easily, I need to teach him what is the bottom line to me!”
