Reborn: Refusing to Be a Good
Wife
Chapter 1
The first thing I did after waking up in this
new life was swap out the lube in my
husband’s drawer with super glue.
Last time around, I’d accidentally found a
bottle of the stuff in his dresser.
I confronted him about it.
He freaked, shoving me down the stairs,
killing me instantly.
This time, I made the switch, ready to watch
his little performance.
Turns out, later that night, both my husband
and the family dog ended up in the ER.

“Hey, babe, you sounded a little stuffy
yesterday, so I got up early to make you some
honey–lemon tea, try it out.”
Jake held out the mug like it was the Hope
Diamond, blowing on it gently.
His usual, attentive act sent shivers down my
spine.
Jake Sullivan was known as the ice–cold
CEO, all business, untouchable, a freaking
fortress.
Except with me, apparently, treating me like
gold since we got married.
I honestly thought I was his everything.
But what happened last time has me on edge
constantly.
I was shocked, completely lost.
Even if Jake was cheating, why would he
outright murder me?
What kind of woman could make him so
jumpy?
“Honey, you look a little pale, are you feeling
okay?”
<
Jake watched me closely, his brow furrowed.
I forced a smile, didn’t say anything, and took
a sip of the tea.
His phone kept buzzing on the counter with
notifications.
I was curious, but then Jake, who was
supposedly making me breakfast, asked:
“Hey, can you check my messages for me?”
We’d been together for years, and he always
let me use his phone.
Said honesty was key to a good marriage.
My birthday was the password, of course.

It was an assistant with work stuff, nothing
crazy.
After replying, I went deeper into his phone.
His wallpaper was a picture of me from
behind.
His social media bio was my name.
I was his only pinned contact in messages.
His contacts list? Barely any women, and
none that seemed personal.
The whole thing was too damn clean.
And that’s exactly what made me nervous.
Jake Sullivan, the deeper you try to hide, the
harder I’ll come after you.
