Chapter 12
Chapter 12
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Dad gives her a lesson she won’t forget,” Amanda said, lifting a glass of warm water from the bar and offering it to William.
“William, have some water and calm
down.‘

William accepted the glass, taking a slow sip before a faint smile curved his lips.
“You‘ re right. This is all deliberate, her attempt to provoke me.”
“Lucas? A man who wouldn’t even spare a glance at a goddess walking by? There’s no
way
he’d ever fall for someone like her.‘
و,

Though she resented his fixation on Avery, Amanda nodded with practiced ease.
“Exactly. Once she cools off, she‘ 11 crawl back. So there’s no need to worry.”
William smirked, pinching her cheek lightly.
“You‘ re always the obedient one.”
Amanda smiled in satisfaction. She hadn’t anticipated Avery’s stunt, but it played perfectly into her hands, practically gifting her the title of Mrs. Beaufort. For once, her sister’s antics didn’t feel so infuriating.
William tossed his phone aside and raised his glass to the crowd with a calm facade.
“It’s nothing but a little spat. Let’s keep the drinks flowing.”

The crowd murmured in agreement. It seemed unthinkable that Avery, who had always been hopelessly devoted to William, would suddenly get engaged to another man. The atmosphere lightened, and laughter began to ripple through the room again.
But just as glasses were raised, a server approached William with a neatly wrapped gift box.
“Mr. William, this is for your engagement. Miss Avery sent it.

“Avery?” William’s eyes narrowed, his expression darkening as he studied the box.
“Which Avery?”
“The name on it says Avery,” the server confirmed with a cautious nod.

The moment the server spoke, William
couldn’t wait to snatch the box from his hands
and tear it open.
The first thing he saw was the gleaming platinum ring, familiar yet so foreign now. He picked it up, and a heavy wave of realization hit him. It was the matching ring he and Avery had chosen together, the one they had exchanged when they became a couple. He’d long since discarded his, but Avery had never parted with hers. She’d worn it without fail.
But now, why was she returning it?
Beneath the ring was a small stack of photos. Each one showed intimate moments between him and Amanda, moments he never thought

would be put on display.
And beneath those, a printout of their chat logs. Every single line, every word was a record of Amanda‘ s cruel provocations and the insults she had aimed at Avery.
Just moments ago, Amanda had been basking in the idea of her victory, but now, the sight of the photos and the chat logs made her panic.
She quickly glanced at William’s ashen face, her heart sinking. She tried to slip away, but before she could, he yanked her back by her
hair.
“Ouch…” she whimpered softly. “William, let me explain!”
“Explain?” William’s voice was cold, and his teeth clenched. He threw the photos and

chat logs at her, his anger palpable.
“I’m all ears. Explain yourself.”
“I…”
Desperation seized Amanda, and she reached for her usual defense–manipulation.
She wrapped her arms around him, pressing her soft body against his as her voice oozed
sweetness.
“William, you know exactly what kind of person my sister is. Those things are lies! She doesn’t love you. She’s just fascinated with the man in that video. She made all of this up to get rid of you and pin the blame on me…

Before she could finish, a sharp slap cracked through the air, and Amanda crumpled to the

Stunned, she looked up at him, her voice trembling with disbelief.
“William, did you just hit me?”
William had utterly lost control. Without a second thought, he kicked her again and again, his face contorted with rage as he shouted,
“Is this your explanation? Is this really your explanation?”
