Chapter 3
Lillian’s heart skipped a beat. Her fingers moved, and she blocked him right away.
The next day, she headed to the hospital. Near the entrance, a white Maserati pulled up
beside her. Jacob’s voice was cold as he spoke, “Get in. We need to talk.”
oticing the curious stares of passersby, Lillian sighed and got in. As soon as she sat down, Jacob said, “If you keep this baby, you’re the only one who’ll suffer.”
Lillian glared at him, anger churning in her chest. How could she have believed his sweet
words and married someone like him?
Suppressing her emotions, she replied, “If you can’t talk like a human, go reincarnate.
Maybe you’ll come back as a dog with a better sense of words.”
Jacob’s face darkened, and he took out a check. “Half a million. Sign the divorce papers.”
She didn’t take it, a sarcastic smile on her lips. “Divorce for half a million? Are you out of
your mind? If you want freedom, then transfer all your assets to me.”
Jacob hesitated for a moment, as if suppressing his rage. He fixed his gaze on her. “This is
all you’re worth to me.”
Pain shot through her heart, but she lifted her head defiantly. “As far as I’m concerned,
you’re worth nothing.”
Jacob’s expression grew colder. “How much will it take for you to agree to the divorce?”
His restrained look made Lillian laugh. “You told me you were changing your flight, but
instead, a hotel booking message popped up on my phone. When I walked in on you and Ruby, you hadn’t even separated yet. How much are those photos worth?”
Her chest heaving, she grabbed her bag and flung it at him before opening the door and getting out. “Jacob, you want a fresh start but won’t pay the price? The farther you stay
from me, the better!”
Feeling a surge of satisfaction, Lillian walked away. But as she rounded a corner, she saw a

Porsche 718 parked nearby.
Ruby was in the driver’s seat, a cigarette between her fifigers. When she saw Lillian, she stepped out with a sultry grace.
“Lillian, keeping this baby is unwise.”
Lillian’s stomach churned. No wonder Jacob had loved this woman for years–they were a perfect match in low character, even starting conversations the same way.
Ruby flicked her cigarette away. “I’d advise you to terminate the pregnancy soon. I know the toll it takes on a woman. Here’s three thousand as compensation. Is that enough?”
Seeing her haughty demeanor, Lillian looked at her as if she were a fool. “You seem to love the number ‘three.‘ You live up to being the third party.”
Ruby smiled smugly. “The person not loved is the third wheel. If you don’t want money,
fine–just end up with nothing.”
Lillian smiled back. “And let me remind you, Jacob’s been around. You might want to get yourself checked.”
Ruby’s face turned pale, glaring at Lillian before finally driving away. As soon as she was gone, Lillian took a deep breath.
When she turned around, Daniel was standing nearby, watching her.
Lillian’s heart skipped a beat as she faced his calm gaze. “Dr. Martin, are you on duty?”
Without answering, he walked ahead.
Lillian pursed her lips and quietly followed him toward the examination room. Inside, Daniel was already dressed in his white coat and blue mask. Lillian lay on the bed, watching him approach, her palms growing slightly sweaty.
Staring at the ceiling, she heard his question, his voice low but clear.
“Your husband cheated?”
Lillian froze. After a moment, she chuckled bitterly. “Yeah. I date a cheater, and even my

husband isn’t much better. My judgment really sucks.”
Daniel replied coldly, “The whole world knows about your bad taste.”
