Chapter 7
The doctor needed to give Lilian some medicine so that she could calm down. After a few hours, she fell asleep. Daniel was no longer in her room, nor was the doctor, when she
woke up.
Lilian quickly removed the IV from her hand and forced herself to stand up. Once she
anaged to do so, she took her cellphone and quietly left the room.

“Hello, Chloe? Where are you?” she asked her best friend when Chloe answered her call.
“What? Lilian?” Chloe blurted out. “Is that you?”
“Of course, it’s me. Where are you? Can I stay at your condo for a while?”
“Wait, wait. Oh my god. You’re alive?!” She screamed from the other line.
Lilian frowned. She was currently waiting for a taxi outside the hospital building where she was confined. She decided to go home to her friend Chloe first because she didn’t want Daniel to see her in that situation. She decided to think about what to do next later, as it seemed that what had happened hadn’t fully sunk in yet.
“What are you talking about? I can’t understand you,” said Lilian, waving at the approaching taxi. She felt the chill of the breeze, as she was only wearing a hospital gown.
“Girl, I sent you a link. Watch it so you’ll understand what I’m talking about,” Chloe replied
She didn’t even hang up the call and looked at the link that Chloe sent. It’s a video link. When she clicked on it, a press conference headline immediately appeared before her.
“My wife, Lilian, committed suicide…”
“Miss, are you getting in or not?”
Lilian didn’t even hear the taxi driver’s shout in front of her. Her attention was solely focused on the video playing on her cell phone.
The press conference was held three days ago. Daniel or the doctor didn’t tell her that she had been unconscious for three days and had also been missing for three days. In the vide

interview, many cameras were focused on her husband while he looked utterly devastated.
“The police confirmed that she committed suicide due to Irer depression. She had been struggling with it for many years. I was her anchor and support, yet she still did this… I can’t believe it…” Jacob announced to the media, his tears beginning to fall.
“I know how much she struggled with her pain. I feel sorry for my wife. Her funeral will be held privately, as that was her wish when we talked about it before. I also ask for your respect regarding this.”
Lilian could hardly finish watching that conference, especially when Ruby appeared on the video, immediately approached the crying Jacob, and hugged him. Her hands and knees trembled as she finally fell to the ground. For the second time, her world crumbled as the dust hit her face when the taxi she had flagged down sped away.
“Lilian? Lilian, are you still there?” Chloe’s calls on the other line kept coming, but it seemed
like she couldn’t hear them.
The cellphone almost broke in her hand due to how tightly she was holding it. Earlier, she
thought that maybe Jacob didn’t know what had happened to her because Ruby was the
only one she saw in the park, accompanied by her two goons. That maybe she just took her
husband’s cell phone and pretended to be Jacob for her to go to that place. She was convinced that’s what happened because she still believed that, deep down, there was a trace of goodness in his heart.
When she watched the video, that’s when she realized everything. Jacob ordered her to
abort their child, his own flesh and blood, it would be easy for him to get rid of her just to make sure his wedding with Ruby would push through. It was certainly easier than forcing
her to sign the divorce papers.
“Lilian!”
Daniel was out of breath from running as he searched for Lilian, and when he finally saw her sitting on the side of the road, looking like a lost child, his heart almost shattered.
He quickly approached her, but Lilian seemed not to hear him and was focused only on her cellphone. When Daniel saw what video she was watching, he felt even more anger and
pity for Lilian.
“Hey, let’s get you inside. You’re freezing. Come on,” he said softly, then immediately lifted

Lilian and carried her back to the hospital.
“What’s her condition, doc? Will she be alright?” He asked the doctor and glanced at Lilian, who remained silent. She’s just facing the other side of the bed while lying down.
She hasn’t spoken for a while now, which only makes Daniel more worried about the woman’s condition.
“Dr. Martin, she was traumatized. She’ll be alright when she’s ready to be. From what I’ve served, everything that happened hasn’t fully sunk in for her yet. She’s been blocking it out in her mind. Let’s give her time,” Dr. Falcon explained to Daniel.
There were other things he said to him before he finally left.
Daniel slumped down onto the sofa facing Lilian’s bed without taking his eyes off the woman. He wanted to help her, but he didn’t know how. When he saw her on the street that night, crawling and covered in blood, it felt like he wanted to destroy anyone responsible for what had been done to Lilian.
But when he found out that her husband was the one who did this to her, it only made Daniel more determined to help Lilian. But he’s afraid that Lilian might consider him an enemy because of what happened in their relationship before.
Daniel’s train of thought was interrupted when his cell phone rang. When he saw Amora’s name, he just shook his head before answering the call.
“I’ll be late-”
“Do you think I wouldn’t know what you’ve been up to these past few days, and even now, Dan?” Amora immediately said to him.
His jaw clenched. His gaze shifted back to Lilian, who was still in the same position.
“What are you talking about? Not now, Amora, please.”
“You have her, right? She’s alive and she’s with you right now. Don’t you dare lie to me, Daniel. You know I have ways of finding out things, babe,” she said this firmly, with a threatening tone.
Daniel’s jaw clenched even more due to extreme irritation. He knew that Amora would

eventually find out about Lilian, but he didn’t pay much attention to it becauld be u he could handle it. What he couldn’t tolerate was being threatened.
“You’re right. She’s with me.” When Daniel admitted it, Ainora cussed multiple times on the
other end of the line.
“You jerk! Her husband will find out about this–
Go on, tell him. The moment anyone finds out about this, especially that man, you will be one responsible to me. You know you need me more than I need you, Amora, righre Daniel firmly interrupted his fiancée’s words. The woman on the other end of the line fel

“Fine. Just don’t forget the dinner. It’s tomorrow night. Your hospital depends on this
dinner, Daniel. Don’t waste it just for that woman-”
Daniel didn’t finish listening to what Amora was saying and ended the call, then dialed a number. When the call was answered, he immediately stood up and went to the window,
then gazed into the surrounding darkness.
“Find out everything about her and report to me immediately…”
Lilian furrowed her brow upon hearing that. She glanced at Daniel, who was standing by the window, staring into the distance. She quietly sat on the bed and waited for him to finish talking to his companion. When he turned to look at her, Lilian saw the shock in Daniel’s eyes.
“Take me to my husband. I don’t want to be here anymore. I want to go home,” she said flatly to Daniel.
“What?” Daniel blurted out in surprise.
