Chapter 3:
LYRA
My mate was at first taken aback but then he smiled crookedly as he approached me.
“My Darling,” He smiled, touching my face and I nearly flinched again. “I love this jealous side of yours. It shows how possessive you are.”
“Well, you still haven’t answered my question.” I raised my chin defiantly.
“Who is that someone you deemed more worthy than me?”
“No one, my love.” He shook his head.
I smiled bitterly, seeing through his lies.
“I have something for you.” I said, dipping my hands into my dress pocket before handing him a pendant.
“What’s this my love?” He asked.
“A little present for you.” I said. “Wear
it around your neck always as a good luck charm.”
Ragnulf looked at the pendant, his face. radiant with gratitude. “Okay, my love.” Then, suddenly, his face changed from pleasant to that of alarm and worry.
“What is it?” I asked, staring into his cold grey eyes.
“I just got news from Enzo.”
“Your Beta?”
He nodded absentmindedly, then raised his eyes to mine sharply. “I have to go.” He said, walking away from me with urgency.
“Rogues at the border. All men are converging on the area!”
I immediately felt worried for him. “Stay safe!” I called out but he was already
gone.
On my way back to the main hall, where my birthday party took place, something caught my eye and then I froze.
Because in my previous life, I stayed indoors, I had no idea what was happening outside. Now, I could see one of the pack girls sneak into a room with one of my husband‘ s soldiers.
If there was truly a rogue attack on the border, then shouldn’t he be going along with my husband?
I shook my head and continued walking and then I saw a bunch of women packing up some food from my party and waiting for a carriage to load it in.
I approached them. “Ladies.”
The moment they saw me, they bowed their heads and paid homage.
“Where are all these foods going?”
The women shared a glance. “To the Tavern, my Luna.”
The Tavern, according to past memories, was where celebrations for the King‘ s soldiers were held so that they wouldn‘ t
have to leave their posts. If they were
taking food there, then it means they never went to defend the border.
I have to see this for myself.
I mindlinked my maid immediately.
“Prepare the horses. We are going to the tavern.”
“The Tavern?” My maid replied, surprised.
“Yes. Make haste.
Shortly after, I was disguised in ordinary clothing with my maid by my side on our way out. As we journeyed there, I thought about all the times Ragnulf had made up reasons to leave me alone.
Could he have been cheating then?
A terrible shiver ran up my body at the stark realization. Goddess! I hope I am
wrong.
When I reached my destination and approached the little building, I took in
deep breaths to calm my nerves.
Maybe Ragnulf didn’t need all his men at the border but he would most certainly need Enzo right?
I entered the tavern and it took a lot for my feet to move further in.
To my greatest surprise, not only did I find Enzo in the private area relaxing, but upon entering I discovered there was something going on.
Going to a corner to hide, I found about a dozen women standing naked in a straight line facing none other than my so–called husband.
Amidst them was none other than Jeanette – a beach blonde who carried the biggest breasts of them all.
As Ragnulf inspected the naked women, it suddenly dawned on me that this was the breeder selection. This was where Ragnulf began to actively cheat on me.
Each woman was channeling her wolf and after a while of observation, Ragnulf let his nose lead him to Jeanette’s body.
She smiled, as he buried his nose in her neck, signifying that she was chosen and when he kissed her, my heart squeezed in pain.
What happened after had me in disgust.
The other women were shared between the soldiers and a full blown orgy occurred right in the tavern.
I stood in awe as I watched my husband. penetrate Jeanette and begin to fuck her with passion. He threw in head back in pleasure while Jeanette had her eyes closed in ecstasy.
Then lies from the past floated through my mind. I remembered Enzo introducing Jeanette to me as his cousin when she frequented my home and my husband‘ s office for no apparent reason.
I had been relaxed and even friendly with

her until she got pregnant and had no official mate to claim her pregnancy. That’s when I found out it was my
husband‘ s.
I shook my head as I exited the building. How could I have been so blind and so
stupid?
All these while, not only had Ragnulf been taking me for a fool but his Beta had although been doing the same to me too.
No worries. It’s all good. Soon, I will destroy them all.

Ragnulf never came home that day and that was fine by me.
Instead, I went on a trip with my maid. outside the pack border and I didn’t bother to leave a message for Ragnulf.
We travelled hours to a city called Death‘ s Hill and as fearsome as the name sounded, the community was quite peaceful and the people friendly. I knew this because this was where I born and bred before Ragnulf found me and took me away.
As I journeyed within the community, people recognized the emblem of royalty on my carriage and began to gossip amidst. themselves. I curled my hands into fists, hating the attention but grateful when I eventually arrived at my destination.
My heart did a dive into my stomach as I raised my eyes and saw the dilapidated

house I was lived in. Outside the run down building, was a stunningly beautiful blonde woman, who held an axe in hand and seemed to have been in the middle of chopping wood.
She stood and watched my carriage arrive and when I alighted, I slowly approached but stopped at a distance to her.
In my past life and this new one, I had offended my only friend – Bette.
We grew up as orphans, living on scraps. and barely having enough to fill our stomachs. Better, who was a practitioner of dark magic, would use her skills to secure. our living and keep us warm through the winter.
But it wasn’t enough. I always wanted
more.
So when Ragnulf found me and declared me his mate, I was beyond ecstatic to leave. behind the horrible life and live my fairytale dream.

Of course, I was ready to take Bette with me, but she refused to go. She told me Ragnulf was bad news and that he would betray me in the end but I didn’t listen. Instead, I had insulted her and accused her of being jealous of my good fortune.
Now I see the truth and I’m back to say I
am sorry.
“How‘ s living life a second time treating ya?” She bellowed and I burst into tears.
Immediately, Bette dropped the axe and ran to me and I ran as well, closing the distance between us. The moment we embraced, I cried harder, holding her close. She smelt of apple pies and smoke and she felt more like home than anybody
else.
“I am so sorry.” I cried. “I was so stupid! And dumb.”
“You were naive and that‘ s okay. What matters is that you know the truth now and you move accordingly.”

Soon after, I was inside her house, and s offered me tea to drink. Afterwards, I explained everything that had happened so
far.
“What you experienced is called a rebirth.” Bette said. “I knew eventually that something would go wrong so I blessed your pendant with magic to give you another life.”
My mouth dropped open and more tears rushed to my eyes, as I watched her in shock. “You did that for me?”
Bette sighed. “You’re like a sister to me. Of course, I’d do anything for you.”
I went on my knees and hugged her midriff and she caressed my hair in silence.
As I gazed into the fireplace, with my head on her lap, an idea came to mind. “I want revenge.” I said, after a while.
“What do you need?” Bette answered.
“I need to make them all pay for my

murder, starting with Jeanette. She’s the mastermind behind it all.”
“Consider it done.” Bette said. “I’ll give you all the help you need.”
Hours later, I was back at Ragnulf‘ s mansion and I noticed a little crowd made up of some packhouse members had formed outside. Curious, I alighted from the carriage and went behind the crowd to peep at the cause of the commotion.
To my surprise, I found Jeanette, a blonde barbie doll kind of girl, standing outside the main door leading to my house.
“Jeanette, it’s not safe for you to go in there!” One of the people said. “Only a high ranking professional can pass through the main door. Every other person has to go through the back door!”
Jeanette simply flicked her blonde hair behind her. “Don’t worry, I told you guys my mate is a high ranking official. I‘ 11 prove it to you.” She smiled, and then she

Just then, our eyes met and her smile. faltered.
