Spencer froze, then he panicked. “I don’t know what you’re talking about-”
“Drop the act,” Yunice said expressionlessly. “Just admit that you’ve fallen in love with her, Spencer. What, do you think it’s an embarrassing thing to do? Well, you’re right. It is.”
She put on a mocking smile. “After all, she’s a fake. I did it on purpose. I knew Bethany couldn’t make it. The moment she undergoes surgery, she’s dead. I would never allow a fake to look just like me. Seeing her alone is disgusting enough. The hospital called you a lot of times, but I hung up on them and deleted the call history.”
Yunice added, “She must die.”
Spencer was trembling with rage. He stared at Yunice darkly, not saying a word.
“Don’t give me that look.” Yunice sneered, arching an eyebrow. “You played a part in her death. Physical pain is nothing compared to the fact that the man she loved didn’t even see her as a human. The fact that you’re regretting it after losing her disgusts me.”
She scoffed. “Do you really think I wanted to marry you? If it’s not because of your family doing better than most, you don’t even deserve me. You’re nothing but a pet to me at best.”
She turned around and flicked her perfectly permed hair back, and left without hesitation. Pity she couldn’t even get out of the building. Spencer plunged a knife into her heart, and blood splattered all over his face.
Before she could scream, he covered Yunice’s mouth, along with her eyes. In a daze, he raised his head. “Bethany… Why can’t I remember what you look like?”
Spencer stayed with Yunice’s body for three whole days. Even when the body was starting to rot and smell, Spencer was still scouring the mansion for my photo, one of my original
face.
However, I rarely took photos, and the only photos I had were of me after the cosmetic surgery–the me with Yunice’s face.
He kept rummaging through all the photos he could find and kept comparing them like he was possessed.
“Not her… not her either… What does she look like? Why can’t I remember? No, this isn’t her.” It álmost felt like a demon had taken over his body. He kept finding and comparing the photos without rest just to remember my original face.
On the fourth day, the stench oozing from the mansion caught the police’s attention. My mother stood outside the cordoned area. The moment Spencer saw her, he rushed over.
