Chapter 4
Five
Jane and my brother were dumbfounded, disbelief written all over their faces.
‘General Manager, you must be mistaken.” My brother couldn’t believe it.
“Divina? President Smith? How is that possible?” Jane laughed awkwardly.
The general manager scolded, “Andrew, If you’re drunk, go sober up and stop embarrassing yourself.”
“You haven’t even submitted your monthly report!”
Startled by the general manager’s words, my brother was still in disbelief.
“That can’t be right. General Manager, my sister is just a housewife. When did she become the boss?”
‘Divina is President Smith. You must be

mistaken because you’re drunk,” Jane absurdly suggested the general manager drink some juice to sober up.
The general manager reiterated my identity
and immediately apologized to me, “President Smith, I’m sorry you had to see this. It’s our management’s oversight.”
I waved it off, indicating he shouldn’t worry
about it.
The sycophantic employees who previously greeted Jane now flattered me, fearing to
offend the new boss.
I ignored them and straightforwardly said, “Andrew, you’re fired.”
“And the two of you who are so quick to switch sides, you’re out too! My team
doesn’t need such people. Leave the company.”
They were all dumbfounded.
‘Emily will take over as team leader!”

Emily was surprised, but I nodded to
reassure her.
The general manager promptly carried out my orders.
Suddenly sober, my brother grabbed my pant leg and begged, “Sister, I’m your brother. It’s one thing not to promote me, but how can you fire me?”
‘Sister, you’re new here and might not
understand the business. Andrew works
hard, and today was a misunderstanding. It won’t happen again.”
Jane, changing her tune, tried to mediate.
I left no room for negotiation.
‘I’ve been observing for days. Andrew, you’re a parasite, doing no proper work, always late and leaving early. Why should I keep you?”
“And you, Jane, what right do you have to meddle in company affairs as a family member?”

“Shut your mouth!”
‘You…” Jane was so furious she couldn’t speak.
Seeing my firm stance, my brother became enraged.
‘Divina, you’re ruthless. Everyone here, listen up. This woman is my sister, who threw out our parents and now treats her brother harshly. How can such a person be good to her employees? You’ll all suffer under her! You should resign now!”
Andrew talked nonsense like a mad dog, attempting to disrupt the employees‘ mentality.
Jane chimed in.
‘Exactly! She’s never worked before and relied on men. Who knows how she got this position? The company will go bankrupt soon!”
Unable to tolerate it any longer, Emily argued with them.

‘President Smith hasn’t been here long, but she knows more about the company than you.”
Another sycophantic employee, caught in the crossfire, mocked Jane.
“Turns out your family isn’t as impressive as you claimed. You always boasted about having several properties and connections, but it’s all lies.”
“Exactly, relying on your sister for a job,
you
can’t even take care of your parents. What a disgrace.”
Jane, utterly embarrassed, cursed my
brother for being useless.
Not wanting to waste more time with them, I instructed the general manager to issue termination notices immediately and drove off in my Porsche.
As the night breeze blew through the convertible, I felt a sense of joy and
liberation, leaving behind Jane and Andrew’s impotent rage.
