Chapter 4
Camelia’s POV
His expression didn’t change; he brushed off my words like they were an
inconvenience.
“Camelia, don’t say such things about our child just because you‘ re mad at me,” he said, his voice dripping with disdain. “How can you call yourself a mother?”
The cruelty in his words was staggering, but to my surprise, I found myself laughing through the pain.
Tears welled in my eyes, but I wiped them away and replied between bitter chuckles,
“You‘ re absolutely right–I can’t call myself a mother.”
With that, I turned on my heel and walked out, not sparing him or Sacha a second glance.

Chapter 4
After that day, Darell started sending baby supplies to my home. I refused them every time, but he was relentless as if determined
to rub salt into the wound.
Eventually, I couldn’t take it anymore. I packed my bags and went on a trip with friends, leaving everything behind.
Half a year later, I received a sudden message from that same coworker who’d told me about Sacha taking over my office.
[Camelia, I heard you‘ re about to give birth. Congratulations!]
The message left me confused. I asked her what she meant, and her reply was even
stranger.
[Didn’t Mr. Wise say you‘ re expecting? He’s been in such a good mood lately, telling everyone at the office he’s taking time off to be there for you during the delivery.]
I frowned, irritation bubbling up inside me. What was Darell up to now?

Soon, he successfully tracked me down. He went through every mutual friend we had, asking about my whereabouts. Eventually, someone caved and told him where I was
staying.
When we finally came face–to–face, he looked at me for a long moment, his eyes darting to my flat stomach. Guilt flickered across his face.
“Camelia,” he said softly, “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to support you through the pain of childbirth. But don‘ t worry- Sacha has offered to help take care of the baby.”
Instead of finding comfort in his words like he expected, it only made my stomach turn. Following his gaze, I glanced at Sacha, who stood behind him, looking far less glamorous than she had six months.

the bitterness in her eyes.
Seeing such, I couldn’t hold back a laugh.
“Darell, did you seriously bring your mistress here to help me with a nonexistent baby? That’s hilarious!”
His face turned ashen the moment I finished speaking, and Sacha quickly chimed in with her usual act.
“Camelia, I know you don‘ t like me,” she said pitifully, “but it’s not right to call me a mistress.”
Her performance didn’t end there as she immediately stepped closer to Darell as if to play the role of a supportive partner.
