Faced with the reporters‘ intrusive questions, Jennifer was somewhat caught off guard.

Once they entered the venue, Jennifer finally fanned her face, still feeling a bit warm.
They had managed to get through that first hurdle.
As they walked down the corridor into the auction hall, they ran into some familiar faces.
Jennifer spotted Asher and Sarah.
To her surprise, Sarah was wearing the same dress from earlier that day. “She really liked this fake dress, doesn’t she?” Jennifer thought.
As soon as Sarah saw Jennifer, she smiled and said, “Jennifer, what a coincidence! I didn’t expect to see you here. You changed your dress, so I almost did not recognize you.”

In that instant, Sarah felt a pang of envy. She thought, “Why does Jennifer get such special treatment?
Why is she wearing a genuine designer dress while I’m stuck with a fake one?”
Jennifer smirked, her tone mocking. “I didn’t expect you to bet wearing that fake dress everywhere. Aren’t you afraid someone might notice?”
“What are you talking about, Jennifer? My dress is not fake. It’s the real thing.”
Sarah was already a little guilty about the dress, but since no one had noticed earlier at school, she thought there wouldn’t be a problem at the auction either.
“A fake dress is a fake dress, no matter how you try to pretend. Are all you Hargreaves people so shameless?” Jennifer shot back.
Just then, Sandy entered, wearing the real version of the same dress. Upon seeing Sarah in the fake one, she was immediately enraged. “Who do you think you are, wearing the same dress as
me?”
Sarah froze in shock. She hadn’t expected to run into Sandy
here!
Panicking, she realized she was caught.

Sarah had just said there was only one version of this dress.
Flustered, she stammered, “I don’t know what’s going on!”

Sandy raised her hand and slapped Sarah across the face. “Stop pretending, you fake! You, a woman wearing a knockoff, have the nerve to mock us, the Clark family? What kind of person are you? Wearing counterfeit goods and acting all high and mighty. This is what your Hargreaves family taught you?”
Asher, unable to keep up his composure, turned to Sarah. “Sarah, tell the truth. Why are you wearing a fake dress and lying about it being real?”
Sarah’s eyes filled with tears..
She never expected to run into Sandy here. Had she known, she would never have worn that dress!
Jennifer watched with satisfaction as Sarah was exposed, a smile. creeping onto her lips.
She sneaked a glance at Timothy, thinking, “Was this all part of his plan?”
Around them, many well–known figures had gathered to watch.
Sarah’s eyes welled up, and she meekly said, “I didn’t know… I swear, I bought the real one. I even paid extra for it. Ms. Hoover

Sandy laughed coldly. “So, what you’re saying is, you’re also a victim, and you didn’t know you bought a fake?”
Sarah nodded quickly. “I didn’t know! Please believe me, Ms. Clark.”
“I don’t believe a word of it. You were so smug at school. How do we know you didn’t do this on purpose?” Sandy shot back.
Asher immediately came to Sarah’s defense. “Ms. Clark, Sarah must have been tricked. She’s just a young girl. Isn’t this a bit
much?”
“It’s this wretched girl who started running her mouth at school. Now she dares to slander the Clark family. Apologize!” Sandy demanded.
Sarah, feeling humiliated, tried to protest. “But Jennifer is wearing a fake dress too!”
“Jennifer’s dress isn’t fake. It’s a sample piece before the final design, and it’s not exactly the same as mine. You people don’t know how to appreciate real fashion and then start spreading rumors. That’s where you went wrong!” Sandy retorted.
Asher turned to Sarah with a stern look. “Apologize to Ms. Clark right now.”
Reluctantly, Sarah apologized, though it was clear she wasn’t

Sandy, casting a quick glance at Timothy, added, “And you also need to apologize to Jennifer.”
Sarah felt an intense wave of resentment. She didn’t want to apologize to Jennifer. It made her feel worse than anything.
Jennifer crossed her arms, her gaze icy. “I warned you earlier not to walk around wearing fake goods, but now look at you. You’ve made the Hargreaves family look ridiculous. People will think my brother’s been mistreating you, and even had to buy you a knockoff dress.”
Asher felt a pang of upset. He hadn’t expected Sarah to be this foolish.
With so many people watching, he felt utterly embarrassed.
