Chapter 4
The next day, when I went to school, I had just opened the car door when Adrian tried to get in.
“What are you doing?” I pulled on the door.
“Get out of the way. I’m going to be late.” He pushed me away hard and got into the car, sitting next to me.
Then, Adrian turned toward the front and said, “Dad, like before, we’re picking up Mary and then going to school.”
The driver, Eric Turner, turned and looked at Adrian blankly.
Harry had been fired by me yesterday. Just in case he thought I didn’t have the right, I called Victor about it.
Victor said that his other driver, Eric, happened to be free at home lately and that Eric would be driving me to and from school these days.
“Adrian, have you lost your memory? Your father was fired by me yesterday. Get out of the car now.” I kicked hard, kicking him out of the car straight away.

Adrian came to school in a hurry during the second class.
He hadn’t been on the bus, so I thought he’d taken the bus past the stop and then back.
As soon as he arrived, he glared at me. Then, he packed all the books in his drawer into his schoolbag, walked over to Landon Baker, who was Mary’s deskmate, and said, “You sit over there.”
Landon turned to look at me and shook his head. “I won’t.”
It was said that Harry had paid for half of yesterday’s bill and split the remaining half equally amongst everyone.
Although no one in our class was poor, there was somewhat of a grudge in their hearts when they had to pay for themselves to go to someone else’s birthday party.
Plus, suddenly realizing that Adrian, who had been pretending to be rich every day, was a driver’s son, Landon was now sick at the sight of Adrian and would not agree to switch seats with him.
Adrian didn’t expect to be rejected by Landon.
He opened his mouth and looked at Mary hoping that Mary would sneak for him.

But Mary just looked at him and indifferently said, “Adrian, the teacher doesn’t allow random seat changes. You’d better sit back.”
Although reluctant, Adrian sat back next to me with his schoolbag on his back.
He picked up a pen and drew a line on the desk, then said, “Don’t go beyond that line.”
I rolled my eyes at him and ignored him.
At lunch, I got up and was about to leave when Adrian pulled me back.
Meeting my puzzled look, he said, “I want charcoal–grilled steak, beef curry, green salad, and mushroom soup for lunch. I’d also like mango juice.
“By the way, remember to get two. Mary’s going to eat it as well.”
I asked, “What are you doing?”
He smiled smugly, “Rachel, don’t try some weird trick to get my attention. I’m already in a relationship with Mary. There’s no way in hell I’m going to like you after how you embarrassed me yesterday!”
People would really laugh when they were speechless. I smiled, “Adrian, please go home and look in the mirror. What makes you think I like
you?
“Besides, why are you talking to me if you want to eat? Go to the cafeteria yourself. How dare you want me to feed you and hate me?”
“Rachel,” said Adrian, slapping the desk angrily and glaring at me.
I glared back, but it took a minute for me to give up.
He was insane, but I wasn’t.
I had to go to lunch, and I didn’t have time to bother with him.
