Chapter 7
I glanced up at them both. “Oh, well, happy birthday in advance.”
They both froze. Adrian looked at me, a huff in his voice. “Is that all?”
I asked, “What else would you want?”
Adrian said, “How about gifts and a venue? I don’t need anything too nice, just something similar to last year.
“Rachel, you’ve been throwing a tantrum for so long. You can stop now!”
“Who are you to ask me to throw you a birthday party?” I was pissed off and laughing. I had been in a cold war with him for so long. Why did he still think I was throwing a tantrum until now?
“Rachel, I know you’re still mad at me about being with Adrian. But it’s been so long. It’s time for you to accept it, right?
“You’ve been in charge of Adrian’s birthday party in years past, and you’re certainly in charge this year.
“You didn’t prepare anything, did you?” Mary covered her mouth in exaggerated surprise.
I nodded my head. “Of course, I didn’t prepare anything. It’s not like it’s my birthday.
“Besides, as his girlfriend, you don’t prepare a birthday party for him. Why would you let me, an outsider, do it?”
Adrian looked over at me with a sure–fire attitude. “I knew it. Rachel, you’re still mad at me for being with Mary.
“How about this? Help me with my birthday party this year, and l’can go to a movie with you alone once.”
I felt uncomfortable hearing this from him because he sounded like he was giving a handout.
I said, “Thanks, but there’s no need. I have a private theater at my house. I’m not going to waste my time going out to see a movie.”
Seeing how stubborn I was, Adrian grunted and stopped talking.
When I got home, Angela said that she had already gotten me a school to go abroad and the school process was done. If it was fast, I could leave the country next Monday.
In order to celebrate my being able to get away from Adrian during the weekend, Victor booked a private room at Seaside Restaurant, and our family planned to have a good meal. After all, after leaving the country, it would be difficult for me to eat authentic Harrianne food.
As soon as our car parked in front of Seaside Restaurant, I saw Adrian, Mary, and the rest of the class.
The moment I got out of the car, Adrian mockingly walked slowly towards me. “Didn’t you say you weren’t coming? What? Do you still can’t let go of me?”
Mary said, “Adrian, talk to Rachel nicely. She’s here for your birthday party.”
I looked at the two of them and then at the classmates behind them. “Did you book this place for your birthday party today? It’s very expensive here. Do you have money?”
“Rachel, you’re here already. What are you still pretending for?” Adrian pretended to be very generous. “Since you came for my birthday, I’ll forgive you.
He waved his hand toward the crowd, and then they headed toward inside in unison.
I shook my head and turned to take Victor’s arm, walking inside as well.
Seaside Restaurant was sort of my family’s property. Rachel had booked this place for Adrian’s birthday party every year in the past. After a

Victor booked the biggest room, but it was a bit empty, with only the three of us inside.
Luckily, there were enough dishes to fill the table.
Rachel had been here several times, but she was so busy each time that she had never had a good meal at Seaside Restaurant at all.
This time, I had to try it for Rachel.
