Lucian stared at me with red–rimmed eyes. Before he could say anything, I forced a smile.
“Let’s go home. I’m fine.”
Neither of us had the money for the hospital bill, and we both knew that.
When Lucian went to call for a cab, I waited alone in the hospital corridor.
My nose felt stuffy, and when I wiped it, more blood smeared on my hand.
Just as I was about to wipe it off, Elias appeared in front of me.
“What’s going on? Why are you bleeding?”
Hearing his voice, I suddenly realized how unworthy my love for him had been all these
years.

if he really loved me, how could he let me go through so much suffering?
It was laughable.
When Vivian tormented me, he sided with her.
When his sister forced me to kneel for an hour, he did nothing..
And now, he was asking me why?
I said nothing, turning away from him.
Elias stepped closer and then suddenly yanked me up as if I were a child.
He didn’t seem to expect me to be so thin now.
The sudden loss of weight made him stagger slightly.

“Is this it? You can’t even afford water after leaving me? You’re so weak, and it’s freezing
outside. Are you really getting sick?”
His words were laced with sarcasm, but there was something else in his eyes.
Worry?
If this were before, I would have run straight into his arms, crying and complaining.
But not now.
When he saw that I was silent, his frustration flared up again.
“If you don’t tell me, I’ll ask your doctor!”
He grabbed me and dragged me toward the doctor’s office. My heart sank.
Elias hated me now, so why was he still so eager to know what was wrong? Was he hoping to watch me fall apart?
I wondered what his reaction would be if he found out I was dying.
He walked briskly, dragging me along as I stumbled behind him.
When the office door opened, Elias rushed in, yelling at the doctor.
At that moment, I looked at him carefully.
What did this mean?
If he knew, would he regret how harshly he’d treated me?
Or would he be upset?
I slowly closed my eyes, waiting for the verdict on my life.
The doctor sighed deeply.
“She doesn’t have much time left…”
Elias‘ hand trembled as he held mine, his voice cracking.
“What… what did you say?!”
I had imagined so many times how Elias would react when he found out about my condition. Would he be shocked? Or would he mock me, wishing for my suffering to continue?
I was afraid of it, yet I also hoped for it.
But now, when he finally knew, I felt nothing.
I just wanted to spend whatever days I had left in
I peace.
Elias stared at me, his face a mix of shock and panic.
You need to tell me. What’s going on?”

His voice was loud and urgent, making my head spin. I turned away stubbornly, and Lucian
burst into the room.
He shoved Elias aside and wrapped me in his arms.
What the hell are you trying to do?!”
Elias looked at him, eyes wide with disbelief, and then grabbed the doctor by the collar.
‘You quack! You’re all in on this, aren’t you? It’s just a nosebleed. How could it be a terminal
illness?!”
