Chapter 117 Spare Me the Moral Blackmail
1/9
Timothy glanced at Eric, clearly annoyed. Why was everyone being so loud?
Eric immediately shut his mouth. Seeing his boss holding Jennifer’s hand, he quickly understood the situation.
He lowered his voice. “Mr. Clark, what’s the next step?”
Timothy answered softly, “Wait until she wakes up.”
Timothy noticed Eric glancing at their hands and awkwardly turned his head, but didn’t let go.

Chapter 117 Spare Me the Moral Blackmail He looked over at Jennifer on the hospital bed and added, “Keep searching the
factory for more fabric, or offer a high price to buy it. No matter what, we need to find more.”
Even injured, she wouldn’t let go of the fabric.
Timothy realized he might not know Jennifer as well as he thought. He’d assumed she was just after the Clark family’s status, but over time, her dedication and drive seemed genuine.
Eric nodded and quietly left the room.
Timothy stayed by Jennifer’s side and didn’t leave.
While asleep, Jennifer dreamed. In her
Chapter 117 Spare Me the Moral Blackmail dream, her parents were still alive, untouched by the kidnapping incident.

There was no Sarah; she grew up carefree and happy.
She missed her parents so much.
Timothy noticed Jennifer seemed to be talking in her sleep. As he leaned closer, he heard her calling for her parents.
He recalled that Jennifer’s parents had passed away when she was young. Even with her four brothers, her life hadn’t been easy because of the favoritism toward Sarah.
Seeing the tear streaking down her cheek, Timothy felt a rare moment of softness.
Chapter 117 Spare Me the Moral Blackmail He grabbed a tissue and gently wiped away her tear.
At that moment, Jennifer woke up.

She opened her eyes and realized Timothy was close by. Maybe a bit too close.
What was he trying to do?
Their eyes met.
Timothy crumpled the tissue in his hand. “You’re awake?”
Jennifer nodded awkwardly, noticing the wetness at the corner of her eye. Had she been crying?
She touched her face. “Did I talk in my sleep?”
Chapter 117 Spare Me the Moral Blackmail “Yes. What did you dream about that made you so sad?”
Embarrassed by his question, Jennifer replied, “I dreamed about my parents. I haven’t dreamed of them in a while.”

Every time she faced setbacks because of Sarah, Jennifer found herself missing her
parents.
But ever since she stopped clinging to that empty sense of family and planned to. leave the Hargreaves family on her own, she hadn’t dreamed of them as much.
Jennifer looked up at the man in front of her. “Thank you for saving me.”
“You said that man was sent by
Chapter 117 Spare Me the Moral Blackmail someone?”

“Yes, I have a good idea who. She knew I’d go to the factory to find that fabric. No one else would want to stop me as much as she does!”
Just as Jennifer finished speaking, the door to the hospital room burst open.
“Jennifer, don’t think hiding in the hospital will let you escape what you’ve done!”
Daniel stormed in, his expression dark and furious.
When he saw her pale face, he hesitated for a moment. She didn’t look like she was faking it.

Jennifer recognized the accusation from her brother. It was all too familiar.
She responded icily, “What did I do?”

“Don’t play dumb! This morning at school, you knew Sarah’s grades weren’t as good as yours, but you still schemed to become the group leader and humiliate her publicly!”
At that point, Jennifer knew what this was about.
Sarah, the perpetual damsel, never failed to deliver in situations like this.
Jennifer sneered, “If Sarah couldn’t answer the professor’s question, she should’ve admitted it. She cheated and got caught. How’s that my fault?”

Chapter 117 Spare Me the Moral Blackmail “Jennifer, if you hadn’t provoked Sarah, she wouldn’t have fallen for it! Don’t think your good grades give you the right to humiliate others! And if it wasn’t for you injuring her hand back then, she wouldn’t have been set back!”
Daniel already held a grudge against Jennifer because of the song incident.
And now, her going after Sarah at school was the last straw for him.
Timothy’s voice was cold. “Sarah hurt her hand, not her brain. If she couldn’t answer, that’s on her intelligence.”
Jennifer glanced at Timothy, surprised he was standing up for her.
Chapter 117 Spare Me the Moral Blackmail But he was right!

Daniel, noticing Timothy had spoken up, softened his tone slightly. “Jennifer, I know you’ve always thought we favored Sarah, but we took her in to repay a debt. It was for your benefit. Don’t you get
that?”
Jennifer found it laughably ironic!
“For her benefit?
Moral blackmail, free of charge, right?”
