Chapter 122 The Black Market
Sarah noticed the suspicion in Asher’s eyes, and she knew that if she continued to avoid this confrontation, it would only raise further doubts.
She leaned forward and addressed the group. “If there’s nothing wrong with my phone after you check it, then what happens next?”
“As long as nothing is found, it will prove your innocence,” Asher replied.
Sarah, however, felt a twinge of frustration. “Asher, I’m being wrongly suspected without reason. Is a simple
statement of my innocence enough? What

if Jennifer suspects me again next time?”
Daniel spoke up. “If your phone checks out clean, how about having Jennifer apologize to you?”
“My fiancée should not be apologizing to
anyone.”
Timothy’s voice was sharp and unyielding. “I will check that woman’s phone, and I don’t need anyone’s permission. If any of you from the Hargreaves family try to stop me, I’ll make sure your family goes bankrupt tomorrow!”
Timothy had no time to waste bickering with Sarah. He was determined to finish
this and move on.
In a sudden act of defiance, Sarah stepped

out from behind Daniel and produced her phone. “Mr. Clark, please don’t drag the Hargreaves family into this because of me. If you want to check, go ahead. I’ve got nothing to hide.”
Daniel looked at her in surprise. “Sarah, you don’t need to do this.”
He hadn’t expected her to hand over her phone willingly. Did this mean they had all misunderstood her?
Asher’s voice softened as he looked at Sarah. “If the check clears and you’re innocent, I’ll make things right.”
“There’s no need for that, Asher. I just want everyone to get along peacefully. And I hope Jennifer learns from this and doesn’t harbor any more doubts about me

Jennifer watched as Sarah handed over
her phone.
She guessed that Sarah had probably already taken some precautions, which was why she seemed so calm.
If they had taken Sarah’s phone earlier, perhaps they might have found something, but now, it seemed the chances were slim.
The police immediately began to check the phone’s contents.
Though Sarah appeared composed, she was actually anxious inside. She wasn’t sure if removing that app had truly resolved the issue.

After a while, the police officer spoke up. “There’s no evidence of any black market–related software on her phone, and no abnormalities were found.”

Upon hearing this, Sarah breathed a sigh of relief. The weight in her chest finally lifted.
Daniel’s voice was stiff. “I knew you were innocent, Sarah. Jennifer, what else do you have to say now? Apologize to Sarah, and let’s consider this matter settled.”
Sarah responded with a touch of sarcasm, “I’m not petty. If Jennifer apologizes, I won’t hold this against her.”
Though Sarah appeared magnanimous on the surface, inside she was secretly

pleased.

“Jennifer, you can’t do anything to me!” Sarah thought.
With a cold look in her eyes, Jennifer replied, “Wait a moment. We haven’t finished investigating yet.”
Daniel frowned. “What do you mean, Jennifer? The officer just said there’s nothing wrong. What more is there to discuss?”
“Maybe Sarah secretly deleted the
app.
If we reinstall it and log in, we might still
find the messages.”
Sarah’s anxiety spiked. “Jennifer, what are you implying? I’ve never downloaded any black market software.”

“We’ll see once we check,” Jennifer shot
back.
Timothy snatched the phone from Sarah and threw it to the police.

Sarah panicked. “Mr. Clark, I know you’re trying to clear Jennifer’s name, but you can’t just slander me.”
Daniel stepped forward, anger in his voice. “Jennifer, don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you have the Clark family’s support. How could Sarah have anything to do with the black market?”
But the police raised the phone and spoke. “Ms. Campbell did indeed register for this app.”

At this, Asher stared at Sarah in disbelief.
“What’s going on? How would you involve with black market?”
“Asher, please let me explain. I downloaded the app out of curiosity,” Sarah said quickly. “Jennifer, I swear this has nothing to do with me.”
“If that’s the case, why didn’t you admit it earlier? Now that the police have found it, you suddenly claim it’s not related to you. How are we supposed to believe you?”
Daniel’s face darkened. He had believed Sarah without question, but now it seemed like he’d been wrong. He felt a pang of guilt and uncertainty.
Sarah lowered her head, her face pale. She
