Chapter 27
But now, everything seemed even more
absurd.
Emmett had been willing to throw away their entire relationship for a lie, a ridiculous, cruel lie. Athena couldn’t
bring herself to forgive him, no matter how
she tried.
She looked at him, her eyes cold, and found herself speechless.
Without a second glance, she cradled Eira in her arms, roughly pulling away from Emmett‘ s grip and walking forward. Emmett‘ s eyes widened, a desperate urge to follow rising in his chest, but then a wave of nausea hit him. His stomach twisted, sharp pain searing through him.
“Athena… my stomach hurts…”
His voice was weak, soft, almost a plea, expecting Athena to turn, to care for him as she once had. But she didn’t.

With Eira securely in her arms, Athena didn’t falter. She never looked back.
This time, Athena had returned to the country with a single purpose: to bring Eira in for medical treatment. After the doctor prescribed a month’s worth of traditional medicine, Athena planned to take Eira back home to pay respects to her parents before returning to Finland.
Hand in hand with her daughter, Athena climbed the hill slowly, telling her parents everything, everything that had happened in the years since she left.
She spoke of her separation from Emmett, the final, irrevocable goodbye. She spoke of her life now, with a daughter who was the most precious thing in the world to her. Just as she was about to leave with Eira, two figures appeared behind her.
Before Athena could react, Azrael, with tears glistening in his eyes, took slow steps toward her.

“Athena… you look so much like your
grandfather.”
Athena gazed at the elderly figure of Mr. Davidson, hesitating for a moment, before moving to support him.
“Where have you been all these years?” Azrael’s voice, aged and worn, held so
much pain, and Athena felt the tears rise in
her eyes.
“After sending my parents back to Northpoint, I went abroad.”
Azrael remained silent for a long moment, his sigh deep and heavy. “The Davidson family owes you an apology, and we owe it to your parents as well,” he finally said, his words heavy with regret.
Athena smiled bitterly, her lips curling in a mix of sadness and disbelief. “What’s the point of saying that now?”
The silence stretched between them, heavy and unyielding. After a long pause, Azrael spoke carefully, his voice tentative,

“Emmett has already broken up with. Aliana. Please, listen to your grandfather and forgive him, alright?”
Athena’s response was immediate, her voice sharp with finality. “Impossible.”
“Why not?” Azrael frowned, his brows furrowing in confusion. “If you just bear an heir for the Davidson family, everything will be yours. All of it, everything!”
Emmett, standing on the sidelines, swallowed hard, his gaze locked on Athena. His silence spoke volumes, but his eyes, hopeful and desperate, sought hers. Three years ago, he had betrayed her for the Davidson family’s wealth. But now, he’d offer it all to her without a second thought, even knowing she had a child with. someone else. Surely, she would reconsider.
The Davidson family had prospered beyond anyone’s expectations. Their
market value had soared to over 10 billion.
It was a temptation few could resist, but

Athena remained unmoved.
Because Athena could no longer have children.
After hiding the truth for so long, Athena felt the weight of her secret pressing down on her. It was finally time to reveal everything to them.
With a deep breath, she pulled out the report she had kept hidden for three years and placed it in front of them. “I had a miscarriage right before our wedding.”
Azrael’s eyes widened in shock while Emmett‘ s face drained of color; disbelief was evident in every line of his expression.
He lunged forward, his eyes locked on the report in his hands. “When did this happen? How could I have not known about something so huge? Why didn’t you tell me?!”
Azrael’s face flushed with fury. His voice thundered in the silence, “You scoundrel! You better explain yourself right now!”
