Chapter 52 Done Wasting My Breath
Daniel was confident that Jennifer would eventually back down.
After all, he had already found a suitable song to use as his new lead single, making Jennifer entirely unnecessary in his plans.
Jennifer raised an eyebrow at Daniel’s smugness.
She mused, “Wasn’t it Jesse who contacted me about Daniel wanting to buy my song?
I made it clear to Jesse that I’d collaborate with anyone but him.
Maybe Daniel found another song after all.”
“Then I’ll congratulate you in advance,” Jennifer replied coolly.
Seeing her nonchalant attitude, Daniel felt as if he had punched a pillow–his words fell flat.
He had expected Jennifer to be angry, to plead for him to keep her song as the lead track. Instead, she seemed utterly unfazed.
“She must be putting on a brave face,” he thought.
Sarah, sensing the tension, chimed in, “Jennifer, just swallow your pride and work with Daniel. You’ve collaborated before,

and in this cutthroat industry, an independent artist like you needs all the help you can get. If you want your music to be heard, teaming up is the way to go.”

Daniel scoffed. “Sarah, don’t speak for her. Have you forgotten how she treated you before?”
“Daniel, we’re family, remember? I’m not holding grudges. This is about business, and we need to put aside our differences,” Sarah insisted, her tone conciliatory.
Daniel couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride at Sarah’s understanding nature.
He turned back to Jennifer, “Look at Sarah. She’s kind and considerate. And then there’s you, throwing a tantrum over something trivial and running away from home. You’re trying to use your song as leverage, but without me, it wouldn’t have anywhere in the first place.

Jennifer found his words utterly ironic. She thought, “Nothing has changed; it’s all the same old song and dance.”
She remained calm, looking straight at Daniel. “I never intended to work with you again. Whether I succeed or not is none of your
concern.”
With that, Jennifer stood up and headed toward the consultation room, eager to leave the conversation behind.
As she took a seat in the consultation room, two people walked

Daniel wasted no time. “We were here first, Jennifer. You need to understand the order of things.”
Jennifer glanced at the number in her hand. “I was here first. The screen clearly shows my name.”
“True, but the best orthopedic professor in town is here now, and he doesn’t take appointments from the public. I brought him in specifically for Sarah. You’ll have to wait outside.”
Sarah interjected quickly, “Daniel, don’t send Jennifer away. We’re family after all. Once the doctor sees me, he can check on Jennifer too.”
She relished the thought of showcasing her superiority over Jennifer, especially since this renowned doctor was arranged by Asher specifically for her.
Jennifer didn’t even deserve to be seen by him.
Jennifer could see right through Sarah’s innocent facade. She stood up, saying, “There’s no need for that.”
She had no desire to witness Sarah’s smugness.
“Jennifer, what’s with your attitude? Did Sarah say something to offend you?” Daniel asked, confused.
He mused, “She should appreciate Sarah’s offer to let the doctor see her too. What’s her problem?”

Jennifer shot him a scornful look, her patience wearing thin.
She thought, “I’m done wasting my breath on this.”

As she reached the door to the office, a crowd of people entered, including the esteemed Professor Osborn Hadley.
Osborn glanced at Sarah and Jennifer, his brow furrowed in confusion. “Which one of you is the patient?”
Daniel pointed at Sarah. “She is.”
