Chapter 144 Apologize
Jennifer didn’t give Kelly any chance to react.

Stunned by the slap, Kelly shouted, “Jennifer, have you lost your mind? How dare you hit me!”
“Why shouldn’t I hit you? You trash–talked my fiance right to my face. Did you think I was dead or something?”
“Am I wrong though? Everyone knows Timothy is disabled. He can’t even perform in bed, yet you keep bragging about him!”
Jennifer slapped her again, backhand this time.
Rubbing her wrist, she said with a chilling voice, “Say that again. I dare you. Want to see if I’ll slap you every time you open your mouth?”
Kelly was too scared to speak and could only look to Sarah for help.
Sarah stood beside Kelly. “Jennifer, you can’t just go

around hitting people, no matter what.”

“Kelly should thank me for settling this score right here, instead of having lawyers sue her for defamation. Want to bet the Clark family’s legal team could bankrupt her?”
Jennifer glared at Kelly. “My fiance is a wonderful man. His legs might not work perfectly, but he’s in great shape otherwise, including in bed!”
“How do we know you’re not lying?”
“You wish you could find out for yourself, but too bad my fiance wouldn’t touch someone as ugly as you!”
Jennifer’s words dripped with venom.
Kelly was struck speechless, terrified of actually being sued by the Clark family. She’d only made those comments because she couldn’t stand Jennifer’s smug attitude, but now she was starting to panic.
Sarah, seeing the situation spiral, tried to intervene. “Come on Jennifer, we’re all from the same school. Don’t take it too far.”

“Who started it? Everyone saw what happened. Kelly, if you don’t want to receive a letter from our lawyers, you’d better apologize for what you said right now. Otherwise, face the consequences!”
Jennifer wasn’t about to let this slide.
They could mock her all they wanted, put her down all they liked, but when they dared to make fun of Timothy, that crossed a line she couldn’t ignore. Someone had to be held accountable.
Kelly looked desperately at Sarah for help.
But Sarah stayed quiet, knowing there was nothing she could do in this situation.
Backed into a corner, Kelly reluctantly muttered, “I’m sorry.”
“What was that? I couldn’t hear you.
“Jennifer, you’re going too far!”
Jennifer’s eyes turned cold. “Get this straight. I’m doing you a favor here, not the other way around.”

Kelly finally raised her voice. “I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have said those things!”

“Perfect. Next time you’re playing someone’s lapdog, watch yourself. Your master won’t be able to protect you when you get into trouble,” Jennifer sneered.
She patted Kelly’s cheek condescendingly before turning to the saleswoman. “Have these delivered to King Villa.”
Jennifer tucked her black card back into her purse and shot Sarah a cold look. “I’ve already contacted my lawyer. Expect to hear from them soon, you plagiarizing hack!”
Sarah’s expression turned guilty. “I already told Daniel we’ll change the credit to your name.”
“You think changing the name makes everything okay? Dream on!”
“Jennifer, making this public won’t do either of us any good, especially Daniel. Do you really want to destroy him?”
Jennifer laughed mockingly. “Oh, doesn’t Daniel trust

you completely? Then let him keep standing by your side. Don’t back down now.”
She stormed out of the store.
“Who did they think they were, acting all high and mighty while giving back her credit like it was some kind of favor?” she scoffed.
The credit wasn’t even what she wanted.
Jennifer didn’t expect the Hargreaves family to understand that point, though. After all, they had a habit of playing dumb when it suited them.
Jennifer returned to her studio to continue working.
However, the notification of her credit card transaction had already popped up on Timothy’s phone.
Glancing at the purchase details, he was surprised to see Jennifer had used his credit card.
He noticed the store name – if he remembered correctly, it was a men’s clothing store.
Timothy stared at the notification for a long time.

“Who’s she buying clothes for?”
Though he tried to act unbothered, he couldn’t help but speculate.

Eric had been giving his report nearby but noticed Mr. Clark fixated on his phone. “Mr. Clark?” he ventured.
Timothy snapped back to reality. “What’s Jennifer up to today?”
“Mrs. Clark is at her studio.”
“How do you know?”
“Mrs. Clark called me about the endorsement matter. I believe she’s found out you didn’t cancel Jason’s contract.”
Timothy glanced at the text message again, a suspicion forming in his mind, though he kept it to himself.
Eric spoke up, “There’s a business dinner tonight. Will you attend?”
“Cancel it.”

After work, Timothy deliberately left the office on time to head home. There was something he needed to confirm.
