Jennifer felt a surge of warmth when she heard Vivian standing up for her.
“I’m fine. Don’t be so angry. Take care of yourself,” she said to Vivian.
“But your brother is really going too far. How could he question you like that?”
Vivian’s breath caught as if her lungs were about to burst from the sheer force of her emotions.
Previously, whispers had circulated that Jennifer’s brothers showed a clear preference for Sarah. Given that Sarah generally had a knack for charming those around her, people naturally concluded that it must be Jennifer’s difficult personality that led to her brothers’ favoritism.
But now, Vivian had witnessed it firsthand and realized that Daniel was, in fact, mentally ill.

Daniel, who had overheard the conversation, replied coldly, “Ms. Hoover, this is a family affair. You don’t know the inside story.”
“Mr. Hargreaves, even though I don’t know what’s going on with your family, you and Sarah are the biggest perpetrators of plagiarizing songs. None of you are qualified to question Jennifer!” Vivian shot back.
“But for Jennifer to come out and say that in the studio, in front of everyone, that’s crossing the line. Plus, there’s no solid proof that she wrote the song. It’s only because she filed for the patent first that she gets to claim it!”
Daniel felt deeply uncomfortable.
After he made that statement, his song was discontinued across all platforms.
Now, none of his other songs were making waves; his career had taken a significant hit, all stemming from this incident with Jennifer.

“Whether Jennifer wrote the song or not, we could’ve sorted this out behind closed doors. But she had to go and file a lawsuit, blowing it all out of proportion. I mean, as her brother, am I not allowed to blame her?”
Daniel genuinely believed he was in the right.
He thought to himself, “This time, Jennifer really crossed the line.”
Jennifer let out a derisive laugh. “What you mean by ‘sorting this out behind closed doors‘ is just expecting me to roll over and act like nothing happened. Well, I can’t stomach that!”
“Why can’t you just accept it? Is there really a difference between your lyrics and Sarah’s? You’re both from the Hargreaves family. Wouldn’t it be better to have each other’s backs when push comes to shove?”
Vivian retorted, “Mr. Hargreaves, if that’s the case, then why are you so angry?”

“Didn’t you claim it didn’t matter whose name was on the song, Jennifer or Sarah? Now that it’s under Jennifer’s name, suddenly it’s not okay?” Vivian pointed out sharply.
Daniel was immediately speechless.
After a moment’s pause, he shot back, “Can these situations really be compared?”

“It’s exactly the same thing! I’ve never seen brothers as biased as you!”
Jennifer quickly stepped in to soothe Vivian. “Thank you for standing up for me. But don’t worry. I can handle this on my own.”
Vivian grabbed her bag, ready to leave, and said, “I’m heading out now. If you need anything, just hit me up. Remember, I’ve still got some pull in this industry, and I won’t let your brother push you around like that.”
“Thank you, Ms. Hoover,” Jennifer replied.

As she watched Vivian walk away, Jennifer felt a warm surge of happiness. There were still people out there who truly understood her.
“Jennifer, don’t get too comfortable just because you’ve got Ms. Hoover in your corner!” Daniel snapped.
Jennifer turned sharply, fixing Daniel with a steely gaze. “Because in this world, you’re the only ones who e blind. There are still plenty of people who see the truth!”
“Jennifer, you need to come back with me, lay everything out on the table, and apologize to Sarah!” Daniel demanded.
“Dream on.”
Jennifer spoke as her gaze turned icy, “I wrote that song. Even if Sarah cries herself to death in front of you, it’s none of my concern.”
“Jennifer, you’ve gone too far. Sarah’s mother saved your life. Have you forgotten that?”
“I haven’t forgotten, but I’ve put up with her for years, and it’s time to settle the score.”

A flicker of guilt crossed Daniel’s face. “I’ve never done that. You’re already successful, but Sarah needed the opportunity more than you.”
“Then why come crawling to me for help? You’re such a hypocrite!”

Daniel found himself speechless. He was so used to Jennifer being there whenever he needed her, always yielding to his demands, that her newfound assertiveness left him unaccustomed to the role reversal where he was the one who had to give in.
He managed to say stiffly, “But didn’t I apologize to you before?”
Jennifer let out a laugh.
Just then, Jason pulled up in his car next to them. “Jennifer, are you free tonight? Come to my
