Chapter 54 The Truth Is Revealed
Osborn’s words landed like a bombshell, causing an uproar.
Jennifer was the only one who wasn’t surprised.
She had always suspected as much but had never found concrete proof.
It was only when the thought crossed her mind earlier that she decided to have this renowned doctor, Osborn, examine Sarah.
She hadn’t expected him to uncover the truth so easily.
Daniel, in disbelief, said, “How is that possible? Her hand really was broken many years ago, and it was pretty serious. Could it be that after all this time, the injury can’t be detected anymore?”
Osborn gave Daniel a meaningful look. “From my years of experience, even if her hand was injured many years ago, it wasn’t that serious of an injury. It wouldn’t cause the symptoms you’re describing, like being unable to do delicate model work or trembling while writing.”
It was clear that Sarah had been lying.
Upon hearing this, Sarah’s heart sank. She hadn’t expected Osborn to see right through her.
She quickly tried to explain, “But I really do have those

symptoms, and I’ve never found a clear cause for them.”
Sarah thought to herself, “As long as I insist my hand is still an issue, no one can do anything about it.
No one can prove otherwise. They can only guess that there might be an undetectable condition.”
“If you haven’t found a clear cause, I’d suggest you visit a psychiatrist. Perhaps it’s a psychological issue causing your symptoms. But there’s no injury to your hand, so it shouldn’t cause the kind of problems you’re describing.”
It was clear Osborn thought Sarah’s problems might be all in her head.
Sarah immediately grew uncomfortable, unable to speak. She hadn’t realized how sharp this doctor was. He saw right through the lie she had told.
At the time, her injury had indeed been self–inflicted, but it had been a minor one, not at all as serious as she had claimed.
She had exaggerated the injury, pretending to have lasting effects, all in an effort to manipulate Jennifer and garner sympathy from the Hargreaves family.
Daniel also seemed a little incredulous. “Dr. Hadley, are you sure? Her hand really is fine now?”
“It’s fine indeed, Mr. Hargreaves. If you don’t believe me, you can always consult someone else. But as far as I’m concerned,

there’s nothing to treat here. If there’s no injury, what is there to
treat?”
Daniel was left speechless.
He knew Osborn was a top–tier orthopedic specialist, so if Osborn said there was no problem, then Sarah’s hand was indeed fine.
Osborn then turned to Jennifer. “Ms. Hargreaves, please take off your shoes. Let me check your ankle and see how it’s healing.”
Jennifer sat down and did as asked.
When Osborn gently pressed her ankle, Jennifer felt a twinge of pain.
After a thorough examination, Osborn spoke again, “Ms. Hargreaves, your foot injury is actually quite severe. Much worse than what the one who claims it’s bad is describing.”
Sarah clenched her teeth in frustration.
Daniel couldn’t help but ask, “How serious could it be? Are you sure it’s not all just an act?”
You
Osborn looked at him seriously. “It looks like she was beaten badly enough to cause this injury.”
Jennifer looked at Osborn in surprise, not understanding why he would say such a thing.

Osborn spoke carnestly, “Normally, a person wouldn’t injure this bone by simply falling. It would take someone deliberately pushing you down, or inflicting violence on you, to cause such a fracture.”
At this, a hint of sarcasm flickered in Jennifer’s eyes.
Her foot injury had indeed been caused by Daniel pushing her down the stairs.
Osborn was sharp.
Daniel, suddenly feeling guilty, lowered his voice and explained, “Well, it was only because certain people harmed others first. that I had to teach her a lesson.”
Osborn glanced at Daniel. “Even if Ms. Hargreaves is adopted, that doesn’t mean you should have been so rough.”
Daniel’s face turned as pale as a painter’s palette. “She… she’s not adopted.”
“Oh, in all my years as a doctor, I’ve never seen a brother do something like this to his sister. Does Ms. Hargreaves need to report this to the police?”
Seeing Daniel’s face turning purple from anger, Jennifer shook her head. “Let’s just let it go this time.”
“Ms. Hargreaves is quite kind–hearted.”
As Daniel listened to the exchange, he was too uncomfortable to

speak.

It finally dawned on him that Jennifer’s injury wasn’t a fabrication; she had truly been hurt, and it was much worse than he had ever realized.
He had been wrong all along.
He grumbled, “I’ll cover the cost of her treatment.”
“No need. Mr. Clark already took care of that,” Osborn replied.
For
After examining Jennifer, Osborn said, “You still need to take good care of your foot. You can’t engage in any physical activities for the next few months. If you get injured again, surgery might be necessary.”
Jennifer nodded, “I understand. Thank you, Dr. Hadley.”
After finishing up with Jennifer’s treatment, Osborn quickly gathered his things and left the office in a hurry. Clearly, he had just squeezed in a quick visit.
Daniel felt deeply embarrassed.
He turned to Jennifer and coldly said, “Your foot injury is your own doing. As for Sarah’s hand, it may have healed, but psychologically, she’s still carrying some deep trauma. That’s why she hasn’t fully recovered.”
Jennifer couldn’t help but sneer. She wasn’t surprised by this
outcome at all.

With a cold, sharp gaze, she picked up a small stool nearby and threw it at Daniel’s feet.
