Chapter 171 Family Bonds
Daniel hesitantly looked at Jennifer.
Jennifer, however, ignored him.
Daniel swallowed his words and turned to walk toward Sarah.
Sarah was finally relieved.
It seemed he still cared about her.
Her gaze shifted to Jennifer. She vowed to herself that she would never admit defeat or let Daniel get close to Jennifer.
Jennifer understood Sarah’s provocative look.
During the plagiarism scandal, Jennifer had forced Daniel to choose between her and Sarah.
That decision had caused a significant blow to his career, culminating in him witnessing his rival win the Best Singer
Award.
For someone as proud as Daniel, this must have been a devastating blow.
It was clear he harbored some resentment toward Sarah now, but Sarah played her usual “damsel in distress” card and reignited his sympathy.
It worked every time.
Sarah had been using this tactic since childhood.
But now, Jennifer felt nothing. She no longer cared.
What mattered so much to Sarah no longer meant anything to hr.
Jason glanced at Jennifer. “Are you okay?”
i’m fine. What could be wrong? It’s a great day,” she replied cheerfully.
Relieved by her smile, Jason let out a breath. He had just seen both of Jennifer’s brothers leave with Sarah.
None of them had spared Jennifer a word of congratulations.
It was as if her achievements today were an affront to the Hargreaves family.
Jason felt sorry that she had grown up in a terrible family like that.
As they walked outside, luxury cars were pulling away, and reporters were snapping photos.
Jennifer instinctively stepped aside, trying to avoid being photographed.
Jason shielded her, placing his cap on her head. “If you don’t want to be photographed, you should be better prepared.”
Jennifer didn’t want to appear in entertainment news, fearing it might reach Millie.
Millie had never approved of her career in the industry.
Jason offered, “Let me drive you home.”
“No need. I’ll just get a cab,” she declined.
“If you take a cab, the reporters will chase after you. Are you sure?” he asked.
Jennifer relented and got into Jason’s car, finally escaping the reporters.
As he drove, Jason said, “You’re so afraid of being photographed. Weren’t you the same person who fiercely confronted the press the last time they snapped pictures of you and Timothy?”
“Well, it’s personal. It’s not that I hate being photographed, but I don’t want certain people seeing me,” she replied.
Jason immediately caught on. “Timothy doesn’t want you in the limelight?”
“No, it’s his mother,” Jennifer replied.
She was worried that the reporters had managed to catch
Chapter 171 Family Bonds anything earlier.
“Don’t worry,” Jason reassured her. “I’ll ask my manager to contact them and make sure they don’t write nonsense.”
“Thanks. That would be best,” Jennifer said, visibly relaxed.

Jason couldn’t help but ask, “If she is so strict, doesn’t Timothy stand up for you?”
“He does. He’s always been supportive.”
“Really? I heard Timothy is cold and ruthless.”
“No, he’s different from what people say. He’s very kind in his own way.”
Jennifer’s expression softened noticeably as she talked about Timothy.
Jason felt a pang of discomfort. “Seems like you and Timothy are pretty close.”
He had once doubted the rumors of their relationship.
But at the celebration party, Timothy had publicly defended Jennifer.
When Lilian called Timothy a handicap, Jennifer smashed a cake into her face.
They supported each other.

Feeling agitated, Jason rolled down the window to let in some cool air.
Before long, the car pulled up in front of King Villa.
Jennifer glanced at him. “Thanks for the ride.”
“No problem. Just remember me when you’re writing your next song.”
“Sure.”
After saying goodbye, Jennifer got out of the car and walked toward the villa.
Jason rolled down the window, watching her disappear into the grand estate.
The houses there were exorbitantly expensive and difficult to obtain.
Every resident was either wealthy or influential.
As his gaze lingered on the villa, he suddenly noticed a man’s silhouette in one of the second–floor windows.
