Chapter 180 Blame Game
1/5
Jennifer’s words left not only Sadie stunned, but even Sarah was
taken aback.
Sarah never expected Jennifer would speak up for her.
But for some reason, she had a bad feeling about this.
Jennifer turned to Sadie and said, “You’re supposed to be best friends. Just because she didn’t help you, you betrayed your friendship. How could you be so selfish?”
She could play the guilt–trip game, too.
“Sarah’s nothing but a selfish, fake little princess who plays. weak and innocent to get sympathy!” Sadie spat out in fury. “She never saw me as a friend! She was just using me to deal with you!”
Now Sadie finally realized how Sarah had been using her as a pawn all along.
In the past, she’d willingly played along just to stay in the good graces of a rich girl like Sarah. But she never imagined Sarah would toss her aside today without a shred of loyalty.
Jennifer covered her mouth as she laughed.
She found it quite amusing to see Sadie so flustered. She’d

deliberately used reverse psychology.
After all, this woman had often ganged up with Sarah to guilt–trip her in the past.
Now, it was time for Sadie to get a taste of her own medicine.
Jennifer’s tone shifted as she addressed Sadie. “But weren’t you happy being Sarah’s lapdog, back then?”
Sadie’s face cycled through colors like a painter’s palette.
Jennifer had hit the nail on the head.
Sadie replied reluctantly, “I admit I was wrong before, but Sarah was even more vicious. She’s the real mastermind behind everything. I made mistakes, but Sarah’s far from innocent.”
Even if she’d face punishment, she was determined to make sure Sarah wouldn’t get off easy.
Sarah quickly put on a pitiful act. “You’ve got me all wrong. But since you insist, I’ll share the responsibility with you.”
After saying, this, Sarah snuck a glance at Daniel, hoping he would step in and stop her.
That was how it had always worked before, and Daniel would never let her go to jail. He’d just think she was being noble.
But Daniel just furrowed his brow and remained silent.

Now, Sarah found herself caught between a rock and a hard place.

Jennifer couldn’t help but smirk at the scene. For once, Daniel wasn’t giving Sarah an easy way out. She wanted to see how Sarah would perform now!
Timothy glanced at Eric. “Did you get that? They’re both at fault, and both admitted it. Press charges against both of them.”
Eric nodded quickly. “Yes, understood.”
Sarah’s face dropped as she stammered, “That’s not what I meant!”
She turned to Daniel in panic. “Daniel, you know me, right?”
Daniel’s face twisted with mockery. “I’m not so sure I do anymore.”
In fact, he was starting to realize he’d never really known Sarah at all, never seen her for who she indeed was.
Sarah’s panic went through the roof. It couldn’t be happening.
She rushed forward, grabbing Daniel’s hand. “Daniel, surely you don’t want to see me actually go to jail?”
Daniel pulled Sarah’s hand away. “Have you forgotten? That song incident of yours nearly landed me in legal trouble, too.”
Sarah didn’t want to go to jail, but did she care when he was

If he hadn’t publicly apologized and cleared up

incident, convincing Jennifer to drop the charges, he’d be in hot water right now.
Sarah grew more flustered, quickly explaining, “Daniel, this is different! Aren’t we family? If I actually go to jail, won’t that look bad for the Hargreaves family?”
“Doesn’t matter. The Hargreaves family’s reputation isn’t exactly stellar right now anyway.”
With Jennifer making frequent public appearances lately, plus all the drama that unfolded at the awards ceremony with so many witnesses, the family’s blatant favoritism was already common knowledge.
Sarah immediately panicked. The last thing she wanted was actually to get sued!
If she’d known Daniel wouldn’t back her up, she never would have volunteered to take responsibility.
Sarah was kicking herself now.
She turned to Timothy and said, “Mr. Clark, you heard it yourself. All those personal attacks against you in the recording were from her. I didn’t say a single word. Even in front of a judge, I’m completely innocent.”
Jennifer let out a mocking laugh. “Sarah, didn’t you just say

you’d share the responsibility? Why the sudden change of heart? You’re being incredibly selfish.”
Sarah’s face turned red as she stammered, “I was just joking carlier.”
“Joking? So you admit you were just pretending to be generous, but deep down, you didn’t mean it at all? Talk about two–faced!”
Jennifer seized the opportunity to mock Sarah’s fake and innocent act.
“Let’s see her try to keep up that sweet and innocent act now!” she scoffed inwardly.
Sarah had to choose between jail time and admitting her previous words weren’t sincere.
For someone putting on such an innocent act, this must be worse than death.
