Chapter 182 Can You Forgive Me?
Forgiveness?
Jennifer found the whole thing laughably ironic.

All those times, they’d forced her to bow her head and apologize to Sarah.
And now here they were, tossing around the word “forgiveness” like it meant nothing.
What did they take her for? Some doormat they could push around however they pleased?
“You seem to have forgotten,” Jennifer said with a cold smirk, “that I signed the Severance of Relationship Agreement. I have nothing to do with the Hargreaves family anymore. There’s nothing to forgive between us. We’re just strangers now.”
After all, strangers‘ opinions meant nothing to her.
Daniel felt a stab of pain at her words. If Jennifer had yelled at him and refused to forgive him in anger, he could have handled
- it.
At least anger meant she still cared.
But here she was, saying forgiveness didn’t matter because they were strangers. She honestly didn’t care anymore.

Daniel pressed on awkwardly. “Jennifer, I know I was wrong. It was all my fault. Back then, I didn’t realize…”
“Enough. Didn’t you hear what my fiancée said? Your belated apology isn’t worth dirt. You had plenty of chances just now, but you still chose to side with Sarah and blame my fiancée.”
“But I’m apologizing now, aren’t I?” Daniel protested.
He’d recognized his mistakes, apologized to Jennifer, and promised to do better.
What more did they want from him?
“What’s so great about apologizing? Just because you say sorry, does she have to forgive you? If she doesn’t forgive you, is that her fault?”
“That’s not what I meant.”
“If apologies were enough, why would we need police? We might as well empty the prisons. Everyone could just say sorry and call it a day.”
Timothy’s words cut like a knife, leaving Danicl speechless.
Jennifer’s mood lifted as she listened to Timothy tear into Daniel.
She turned to Daniel. “My fiancé is right. Keep your fake apologies to yourself.”

Jennifer wheeled Timothy’s chair out of the room.
She wouldn’t forgive.
And she wouldn’t look back.

Daniel stood frozen, watching Jennifer’s retreating figure with a growing sense of unease.
When Daniel tried to follow, Eric blocked his path. “Mr. Hargreaves, Mrs. Clark doesn’t want to see you right now. Please don’t disturb her.”
“Jennifer is my sister. There’s just been a misunderstanding between us. We just need to clear things up.”
Daniel figured Jennifer was still throwing a tantrum. He just needed to smooth things over.
It made Daniel’s blood boil that the Clark family was keeping him from Jennifer.
“Mr. Hargreaves, I recall you said the same thing during the last song plagiarism incident, yet here you are making the same mistake again. Do you think a casual explanation and claiming it’s all a misunderstanding is enough to heal the hurt you keep causing Mrs. Clark?”
Daniel was struck speechless. “That’s not what I meant.”
“So Mr. Hargreaves thinks it’s no big deal if Mrs. Clark suffers a

little since we’re all supposedly ‘family‘ now. Why is she always the one getting hurt? She’s your actual sister, yel I’ve never seen anyone treat their sister so poorly while being so nice to a housekeeper’s daughter. What a joke.”
This completely silenced Daniel, guilt evident in his eyes.
He realized he had no defense.
He couldn’t even face Eric’s words.
Zorro stepped forward to separate the fighting women, panting from the effort. “Stop fighting, they’re already gone.”
Sarah was in a complete mess, with the bandage on her forehead torn off, causing her excruciating pain.
That bitch actually dared to hit her!
Sarah looked at Daniel with puppy eyes. “Daniel, I’m hurt.”
Indeed, she thought, the Hargreaves family wouldn’t just stand by and watch her suffer.
Seeing Sarah’s pitiful state, Daniel would have felt sympathetic in the past.
But thinking about Sarah’s recent behavior, he realized he might never have truly understood his sister.
Daniel spoke coldly. “Who told you to get into a fight?”

“Jennifer had no grudge against her. Why would she start a conflict out of nowhere? Can you honestly say you had nothing to do with it?”
Sarah was suddenly speechless, surprised that Daniel had become much sharper than before.
Sadie picked herself up from the ground and turned to Daniel. “Sarah’s just been playing the good girl in front of you all. As a housekeeper’s daughter, how else could she maintain her position in the Hargreaves family without acting well–behaved?”
Sarah panicked. “Shut up!”
“Scared, aren’t you? Well, I’m going to say it anyway. Sarah’s just jealous of Jennifer’s status as a young lady. She wants to take her place. That’s why she’s deliberately trying to drive a wedge between you siblings.
“Think about it carefully! Hasn’t your sibling relationship gone downhill ever since Sarah arrived at the Hargreaves family?”
Sarah, now frightened, slapped Sadie across the face. “Watch what you’re saying, or I’ll sue you for defamation!”
Daniel’s mind went blank at these words.
Perhaps it was true after all.
