Jennifer’s sudden appearance here caught everyone off guard.
However, as the editor–in–chief, Grayson Caldwell had weathered many storms.
He quickly smiled and walked over to make Jennifer a cup of coffee.
He gave a discreet signal to the two paparazzi, urging them to close the door immediately.
Grayson then spoke politely, “Ms. Hargreaves, I know why you’re here. But everything we do is just for the sake of our work, so please don’t take it personally.”
“I don’t need to take you personally,” Jennifer retorted coldly. “I’ll just put you in prison.”
Grayson’s face shifted slightly. “Ms. Hargreaves, what do you mean by that? You’re a public figure. All we’ve done is report what the public wants to see. We haven’t broken any laws. Even if you sue me, I’m not afraid.”
“You’re not afraid, but you’ve intentionally fabricated news,” Jennifer shot back. “Isn’t that illegal?”
“Ms. Hargreaves, if you think we’ve broken the law, feel free to sue us or explain things to the public.”

Without another word, Jennifer splashed the coffee right in front of him.
Grayson remained calm. “Ms. Hargreaves, now that you’ve spilled your coffee and vented your anger, please leave our company at once.”
Jennifer threw a USB drive onto the desk.

She glanced at it and said, “Inside, this is a record of the conversations between you and those two paparazzi, detailing how you conspired to fabricate the story of Jason and me having an affair.”
“Ms. Hargreaves, even if you have this, you’re welcome to release it. I won’t stop you.”
Grayson was crafty. He knew that even if Jennifer released this information, no one would believe it. People would just think it was fabricated.
Jennifer could see what Grayson was thinking, and she knew how he would respond.
She continued, “Besides all of this, there are the private photos you took before, which were bought by them at a high price, but you secretly kept a copy. If all of this is exposed and they find out, do you think your company will still be able to survive?”
At those words, Grayson’s face changed.

Jennifer glanced at the USB drive. “If you don’t believe me, you can check for yourself.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Grayson took the drive, plugged it into the computer, and as he saw the contents, his expression grew much more serious. He hadn’t expected Jennifer to actually have these files.
“Ms. Hargreaves, what do you want?”
“My demands are simple. You will issue a public statement saying that the news from these past few days was entirely fabricated by your team, and you will apologize publicly.”
“Ms. Hargreaves, you know how entertainment news works. False or real, people just take it as gossip. Once some time passes, no one will care. Why make such a big deal out of it?”
Jennifer casually propped her foot up on the desk, her tone icy. “You either release a statement to clarify, or I’ll make all of this dirt public.”
Jennifer had carefully gone through the blackmail material, and some of it involved high–profile individuals, even some officials.
If these were exposed together, the company’s owner would likely be unable to handle the fallout.
Grayson remained silent for a moment. “Ms. Hargreaves, as long as the Clark family gives us the word, we’ll remove everything

“You don’t need to try and test my relationship with the Clark family,” Jennifer responded coldly.
Every time there was news about Timothy, it was always blown out of proportion, and Mary’s family was never far behind in stirring the pot.
Jennifer understood all of this.
So this time, she wanted to handle the matter herself, without the help of the Clark family and without relying on Timothy.
“Ms. Hargreaves, don’t threaten me. You’re in such a hurry to come here, and it seems you’re really worried about being kicked out by the Clark family.”
After all, Grayson was in the industry, and he knew the truth behind Jennifer and Timothy’s engagement.
Jennifer stood up,
“So it seems you’re unwilling to
issue a clarification.”
She turned to leave, though deep down, she wasn’t entirely sure whether he would call her back.
Just as Jennifer reached the door, she heard Grayson’s voice behind her. “Ms. Hargreaves, wait.”
She breathed a sigh of relief but kept a cold, stern expression as she turned back around.

“Ms. Hargreaves, you know how our industry works. If we were to release the news and then quickly retract it, claiming it was a mistake, it would seriously damage our company’s reputation. Maybe we should wait a few days before clarifying?”
Jennifer sneered. “You can go explain it to the big shots in a few days.”
She wasn’t accepting that condition.
