Chapter 231 Fainting From Hunger Isn’t Fatal
Jennifer heard this and casually said to James, “She probably fainted from hunger. She’s not going to die.”
“Jennifer, how can you say that? Did you purposely arrange for Sarah not to get any food?”
Asher looked worried. If something happened to Sarah, how could tonight’s meeting with the Clark family proceed?
With a stern expression, Asher went to the basement.
Jennifer let out a cold laugh. “Didn’t I almost starve to death in the basement before? I didn’t see you this concerned back then,
Asher.”
Daniel looked uncomfortable. “Asher doesn’t know what Sarah did. I’ll tell him everything later.”
Daniel followed him to the basement.
Jennifer had a bite to eat and only strolled down to the basement after the family doctor arrived.
The air inside wasn’t exactly pleasant.
Asher frowned at Jennifer. “Is this your doing?”

Chapter 231 Fainting From Hunger Isn’t Fatal “When I was staying in the basement, this was the same environment, and you didn’t say a word. But now it’s different because it’s Sarah? You call this treating everyone equally?”
Asher hesitated before replying, “But you did this on purpose.”
Daniel interrupted, “Asher, did you forget Jennifer fainted too? I asked the maids, and Sarah claimed she was in charge of delivering the meals. But most of the time, she didn’t bring anything, and even when she did, she’d toss it on the floor where it couldn’t be eaten.”
“Is that true?”
Asher glanced at the unconscious Sarah before telling the doctor, “Take her back to her room to rest. Make sure she wakes up.”
“No!”
Jennifer stood at the doorway. “We agreed she’d stay here for three days.”
“But Sarah’s sick, and Timothy is coming for dinner tonight. We can’t do this without her.”
“Sarah can come out for dinner, but the rest of the time she stays in here. If she doesn’t, our deal is off!”
Jennifer’s tone was firm.
Chapter 231 Fainting From Hunger Isn’t Fatal Asher grew frustrated. “Jennifer, I’ve turned a blind eye to everything you’ve done to Sarah. You’ve let out your anger- can’t you let this go now?”

“Three days means three days,” Jennifer said without backing
down.
Daniel stepped between them. “Asher, the media just clarified that the rumors about Jennifer were false. Her engagement to the Clark family is unlikely to be called off. Sarah doesn’t stand a chance.”
“We don’t know what’s really going on with the media yet. We’ll have to wait until the Clark family come to figure it out,” Asher said.
But Asher wasn’t entirely confident.
What if it turned out to be true?
Asher stormed out of the basement, and Daniel followed him. “Asher, you need to keep in mind that Sarah deliberately starved Jennifer before.”
“I know, but why does Jennifer have to be so harsh with the family? Sarah made mistakes, but can’t Jennifer show a little generosity?”
Daniel let out a bitter laugh. “Asher, you wouldn’t want to live in the basement, yet Jennifer was locked down there for so long. Is that fair?”
Chapter 231 Fainting From Hunger Isn’t Fatal “What’s the point of talking about fairness within a family?”
“Then why are you standing up for Sarah?”
Asher was momentarily speechless, unable to argue against Daniel’s point.

He turned around and saw Jennifer coming out. “The paparazzi clarified that the rumors about you were slander. Has the Clark family reached out to you?”
Jennifer replied calmly, “No.”
“You should send Timothy a message to explain the situation. It was just a misunderstanding, after all.”
Sticking with the original arrangement would actually be the best outcome.
After all, Jennifer was the true Hargreaves daughter. Forcing an adopted daughter to take her place would certainly sound bad if word got out.
A few days ago, he had come up with the idea out of desperation.
If things had been cleared up now, it would be best for the engagement to proceed.
Jennifer’s gaze was laced with sarcasm. “Weren’t you the one who thought the Clark family were behind this?”
Asher looked slightly uncomfortable. “I was just making a

like that.”
After all, this particular outlet had a reputation for only reporting solid evidence..
Who would’ve thought they’d fake a story about Jennifer?
Jennifer said indifferently, “The media outlet is owned by Mary. Who knows how many false stories they’ve made up about Timothy in the past.”
Daniel chimed in, “So it’s related to the Clark family after all. I suspected as much before but didn’t have concrete evidence.”
Asher now understood. Mary had done this on purpose.
After some thought, Asher said, “When Mr. Clark arrives tonight, you need to clarify everything and see what his stance.
is.”
“Didn’t he already agree to let Sarah replace me? What’s the point of explaining anything?” Jennifer replied.
With that, Jennifer went back to her room.
Asher was furious as he turned to Daniel. “I know we mistreated Jennifer before, but I’m only doing this now because I’m worried about the company.”
Couldn’t Jennifer understand him just a little?
Chapter 231 Fainting From Hunger Isn’t Fatal Jennifer went back to her room to rest. In the early evening, she spotted Timothy’s car pulling into the driveway from the second–floor window.
She saw the man appear in his wheelchair, his strikingly handsome features still as captivating as ever.
The next moment, she saw Asher and Sarah walking over to greet him.
