usual dishes in front of him.
Timothy glanced at her, his expression softening. He poured her a drink and said quietly, “It’ll help your throat.”
Jennifer’s face flushed instantly.
This man actually knew how to lease!
Everyone noticed the intimate interaction between them.

Jennifer glanced at Sarah’s retreating figure. So much for her schemes.
Timothy’s expression darkened. “Is that woman showing Jennifer an attitude?”
Timothy, Sarah didn’t mean it that way. She already ate earlier, so she’s not hungry.”
“Asher, you’re being way too nice to a foster child. If I didn’t know better, I’d think Jennifer was the one adopted.”
Timothy’s remark was dripping with sarcasm.
Asher’s expression faltered. “Don’t worry, Jennifer will always be my sister. No one can take her place.”
Jennifer’s eyes were filled with mockery. She had no desire to be the Hargreaves family’s daughter.
She spoke coldly, “That’s unnecessary. After all, Sarah’s mother has done a lot for the Hargreaves family. It’s only right for you to treat Sarah well, Asher.”
Timothy added, “If you’re so eager to repay her, wouldn’t it be better to marry the woman yourself, Asher?”
That comment was pure irony, turned up to the max.
Asher’s face darkened. “I’ve always treated Sarah as a sister. Nothing more.”
