Chapter 16
Lydia stood there for a moment, stunned. It was rare for someone to express their dislike so directly.
But this only confirmed Grace’s straightforward personality, suggesting she wasn’t the scheming type.
Lydia’s opinion of Grace improved, and her smile remained bright.
It’s fine. I actually like you. You didn’t notice how awkward Helen looked just now. If it weren’t for you, I would’ve been the one to feel embarrassed, Lydia said.
Grace didn’t enjoy chatting. Frowning, she turned and walked away.
As Lydia watched Grace leave, she couldn’t help but feel good about the interaction, still thinking about what had just happened.
Lydia took a bite of tiramisu and sipped her milk.
After walking a few steps, Grace turned back and said flatly, “People really find it hard to like a girl who eats desserts and fatty foods” Grace had noticed that Lydia had been sitting there eating dessert since the engagement ceremony began.
But Lydia’s figure was good.
Howeyer, as a girl, it was hard for Grace to like her.
Lýdia blinked and quipped, “I thought you were complimenting me.
After Grace left, Lydia continued eating her dessert. She didn’t notice someone nearby watching her. It was Samuel,
Samuel took a few steps forward and lowered his voice. “Lydia, fancy seeing you here.”
Lydia paused for a moment, then thought, “Of course, a guy driving such a flashy car must be some rich kid. It’s no surprise he’s here!
She smiled and greeted him. “Hey
How come Henry didn’t come with you? Samuel asked. “Oh, he had an important surgery coming up at the last minute and couldn’t make it. Anyway, he’s not familiar with Scarlett, so it’s fine if he doesn’t come,” Lydia explained.
Samuel nodded slightly. Lydia was thoughtful, and Samuel thought Henry and she made a good pair.
As Damon greeted the guests, he turned and saw Samuel and Lydia talking quietly.
He gripped his crystal glass tightly, his fingers digging into it for a moment, thinking, “What a shameless woman.
Scarlett, noticing Damon’s shift in attention toward that direction, felt a sense of satisfaction in her heart.
After chatting for a while, Samuel left with Lydia,
The empty hotel hallway felt cool with a gentle breeze. Samuel ought of something as he dialed Henry’s number. “Henry, how could you be so careless? How could you ler Lydia come alone? Didn’t you realize how dangerous it was for her earlier…
Henry’s breathing was heavy for a few moments, but he remained as silent as ever.

However. Henry didn’t hang up, clearly wanting to hear more. Luckily, a lady helped her.. Samuel continued.
Before Samuel could finish. Henry hung up the phone.
Samuel sighed, wondering. When will he learn to be gentle to lady?
Samuel glanced up and saw Lydia walking out from the lobby
Lydia just wanted to get some fresh air in the garden. But she let her balance and fell. Just then, a handsome man quickly walked over and helped her up.
Samuel sharply snapped a picture of the moment and sent it to Henry
Samuel [Henry, looks like there are plenty of kind–hearted people today!
After sending the message, he muted his phone
Samuel thought to himself. After seeing that photo, Henry’s going to lose it for sure.
In the back garden. Lydia looked at the elegant man beside herd politely thanked him. Thank you”
If it hadn’tbeen for him. Lydia might have twisted her ankle.
Lydia must have been too tired to be so careless
She hadn’t had any alcohol, but she felt slightly drunk and just wanted some fresh air
Adam Noah looked stunned “Yvette?“”
Lydia blinked confused. Sir. I think you have the wrong person
The shock on Adam’s face slowly faded, replaced by a warm smile and a bit of awkwardness. T’m sorry, I must have mistaken you
From behind, they did look quite alike, though their facial features were different.
Lydia shook her head gently. It’s fine. Thanks for earlier
The night breeze lifted Lydia’s long hair, bringing with it a faint sweet scent. Adam was a little tipsy
He extended his hand. “Hi, I’m Adam Noah
Lydia politely introduced herself. “Hello, I’m Lydia Everen
It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Everett, Adam said courteously
Thank you. I’m feeling a bit unwell. I just want to get some air. dia said, her head beginning to feel dizzy
She decided to sit by the pool for a bit. As Lydia walked, her steps seemed to grow heavier.
Eventually, she reached the edge of the pool Sitting on the step she furrowed her brow in confusion.
Lydia thought to herself. The cool breeze is nice, but why do I feel so hot? Her mind raced quickly, and she suddenly remembered the glass of milk she had just drunk. Because of the milk

Chapter 16
Sitting by the pool, the water shimmered under the moonlight, ripples glistening on the surface. A cool breeze tousled her soft, silky hair.
It should have been a pleasant night, but she felt a wave of heat rolling through the air.
The oppressive warmth rose from her chest, and her thirst grew more intense by the second.
Lydia bent down and splashed her face with some water, calming herself for a brief moment before the air turned warm again.
At that point, Lydia was sure something was wrong with the milk Her delicate brows furrowed tightly, her fingers clenched into fists. She tried to clear her thoughts, but it was useless.
The scene in front of her had turned into a blurry mirage. Her last ounce of rationality told her, ‘I can’t go back to the banquet hall. If I show up there now, I’ll be the laughingstock of the whole city
But she was already so weak that she could barely stand. Maybe sitting in the water will ease this feeling of exhaustion, Lydia thought.
Once the banquet ended, Lily would naturally send a driver to cake Lydia home. Lydia just needed to stay by the pool for a little while.
The next second, her awareness slipping away, Lydia fell straight into the water.
The banquet hall was bustling with activity, and there weren’t many people in the back garden.
However, the sudden splash drew a few curious glances.
Adam had yet to leave and was standing off to the side, lost in thought. To be more specific, he was stunned by the figure by the pool.
“She’s swimming in this situation? Clearly, it’s pointless, Adam thought, baffled. Adam quickly walked over to her.
Samuel was still leaning against a column in the hallway, watching the scene unfold with a mysterious smile,
His phone had already rung three times. “Interesting. Looks like was right. Henry definitely has feelings for Lydia, he thought.
The movement across the pool made Samuel raise an eyebrow
When he saw Adam, drenched and carrying the equally soaked Lydia out of the pool, panic flashed deep in his rebellious
eyes.
Samuel knew that when the moment came, he had to be ready to defend Henry’s love, such as grabbing Lydia away from a stranger’s arms.
But it seemed someone was quicker than him.
A cold gust swept through him as a familiar figure passed by, and then Lydia was in a man’s arms.
When Adam reached the pool’s edge, he immediately realized Lydia wasn’t in her right state, and he was about to take her to the hospital.
Suddenly, someone rushed in front of him, causing him to freeze. “Sir, wait..

Henry, clearly unwilling to speak to a stranger, immediately scooped Lydia into his arms, his sharp gaze locking onto Adam.
Adam suddenly shivered, a chill running down his spine, but he held his ground. “Sir, do you know her?”
