Chapter 18
Henry’s chiseled, deep features were bathed in the soft light filtering through the curtains, a gentle halo of sunlight warming his handsome face.
He got up, and as he looked into her eyes, they shimmered with a misty softness, making his gaze seem tender for the first
time
Henry moved closer, gathered her in his arms, and gently laid her back on the soft bed.
Lydia nestled into Henry’s embrace, breathing in the familiar scent that seemed to belong to him alone. Last night, they had shared the most intimate experience a couple could have, and a strange feeling bubbled up inside her.
Lydia couldn’t quite describe what she was feeling. She was a little shy and a bit confused, her heart racing
After setting Lydia down on the bed, Henry turned to leave.
Lydia instinctively got up again, but her legs felt weak, and she almost lost her balance..
Thankfully, Henry was there to steady her, helping her to her feet.
Lydia grabbed hold of his sleeve. “Henry, how did we end up… having sex? I remember we had that agreement…”
Lydia didn’t really know why she asked, but it was the question that had popped into her mind.
Henry didn’t respond. He simply let go of her and turned to walk away.
Still dazed, Lydia raised her fist. “Why are you being so cold?”
Not long after, Henry returned, holding a pair of slippers in his hands. He placed them in front of her and coldly ordered. “Put them on.
Lydia blinked, slightly surprised by Henry’s thoughtfulness, then slowly slipped on her slippers.
Henry answered her question, his tone distant. “Last night, you kept bugging me. You were so persistent
His response was all too familiar, almost annoyingly so. He had been saying that a lot lately.
Lydia had been sleeping in the same bed with Henry every night recently.
There were many times when Lydia thought she had fallen asleep on the couch but would wake up to find herself in the bed, her arms and legs tangled around Henry.
Whenever she asked why, Henry would always reply, “You kept bugging me. You were so persistent.”
Of course, she had her doubts. She tried to stay up at night to see what was going on.
But every time, Henry came home late from work or stayed in his study until it was really late before returning to the bedroom. Every time, she fell asleep first.
After giving his answer, Henry left the room. Lydia asked with concern. Where are you going?”
He replied, “I’m going to work. You rest.

Lydia nodded, but suddenly, she realized she was a little hungry
I’m hungry, Lydia murmured under her breath, almost like she was whining.
Henry paused for a moment but didn’t say anything. He just left without acknowledging her.
Lydia lay back on the bed. Just as she was sinking into a dull mood, there was a polite knock on the door.
Henry went to answer it. Lýdia heard the polite voice of the hotel staff. Mr. Brooks, here’s your lunch.”
Lydia smiled softly.
After they had lunch together, Henry returned to the study to continue working
Lydia climbed back into bed to lie down, feeling a bit bored. She searched around but couldn’t find her key,
Then it hit her. She must have left them in her handbag when she jumped into the pool last night.
She wondered if someone had found them.
Anyway, her handbag only contained a single key to her house
Her eyes drifted to the iPad on the nightstand. She grabbed it, opened the browser, and typed in a search.
After a moment, feeling exhausted and sore, she drifted off to sleep.
At some point, Henry came into the room.
She was asleep, and her peaceful face stunned him for a few seconds. He quietly took the iPad from her hands.
Accidentally, he saw what she had been searching for. [Can an individual go to the hotel and retrieve the security footage?]
That was what Lydia had been thinking about before falling asleep.
Helen had tried to embarrass her, though she hadn’t succeeded. Drugging the milk was an underhanded tactic, one that. made Lydia uneasy just thinking about it.
She was lucky it was Henry. If it had been any other man, she would have regretted it deeply. Lydia wanted to check the hotel’s security footage.
Although the lights were off when the drug was slipped into her drink, Lydia wanted to see the video footage before and after the power had been restored. Maybe there would be some due
Henry furrowed his brow, set the iPad down, and made a call. “Have you found anything out?”
The voice on the other end replied, “Yes”
Go ahead. Henry commanded.
On the other end of the phone, Samuel shrugged and candidly responded. “I found out that the employee who accidentally turned off the wrong switch was actually bribed by Helen.”
Henry’s face darkened. “The drug?”
Samuel hesitated. “No results yet.

There was a brief pause. Henry’s deep eyes flashed with a sharp int
Samuel continued, his tone sarcastic. “Henry, can you be a little hore lively? Can you act normal for once?” Henry was anxious, but his voice remained cold.
Samuel couldn’t read Henry’s expression since he was on the phone, so he couldn’t figure out his mood.
As for the person who had drugged Lydia, Samuel hadn’t been able to track him down yet.
Speed it up. Henry said, his voice sharp before he hung up the phone.
Samuel felt a little heartbroken, thinking to himself. Why is he always dissatisfied with me?”
Lydia slept all the way until the evening. When she woke up, she noticed a new set of clothes on the nightstand.
Lydia listened closely to the sounds coming from the study, and when she heard the typing, she felt a little more at ease.
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Lydia’s lips. She hadn’t expected Henry to be so thoughtful, preparing a set of clothes. for her.
She slowly sat up, put on the clothes Henry had left for her, and slipped into the slippers he had placed on the carpet. She gently pushed open the study door..
Henry huid prepared a sleeveless dress for her.
The dress not only made her skin look more delicate and radiant but the diamond belt at her waist accentuated her figure, highlighting the curves of her waist.
When Henry saw Lydia standing at the door, he paused for a few seconds, his gaze flashing with admiration.
Lydia had actually been meaning to ask him when they would be going back home since they couldn’t stay in the hotel. forever.
But Henry’s eyes were fixed on her, making her feel a little uncomfortable.
Do I look good? Lydia asked, noticing his unblinking gaze.
Does he think I look bad in this outfit? she wondered.
A few seconds later, Henry nodded slightly. “Yes.”
Lydia smiled, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Henry, are you complimenting me?”
Seeing Henry remain silent, Lydia stepped closer and shook his arm. “I’m waiting for you to compliment me.”
Seeing her playfully serious expression, Henry nodded. “Not bad
Lydia smiled even more brightly. Thank you, Henry. By the way when are we going home?”
Henry glanced at his watch, stood up, and said, “We’ll head home after dinner.
Lydia, used to his way of speaking, nodded. “Alright, I’m really hungry.

Chapter 18
Outside the restaurant, when Lydia got out of the car, her legs felt weak, and she almost stumbled.
Luckily, she caught herself on the door and took a few seconds to regain her balance.
Henry got out of the car as well, casually draping his coat over his arm.
In an instant, his handsome posture drew the gaze of several adering admirers.
Henry was always lost in his own aura, completely indifferent to the commotion he caused around him.
Lydia’s walk was a little awkward, especially when she had to climb the steps. The pain between her legs was still very
noticeable.
After walking a couple of steps, Henry stopped, casting a glance at her. He slightly opened his arm.
Lydia immediately understood, giving him a slight smile before reaching out to link her arm with his
