Chapter 19
Lydia, Mr. Brooks, are you going to dinner? Would you like to join us? Scarlett asked.
Lydia felt a wave of disgust toward Scarlett. She hadn’t expected to run into her again. There were so many times that she even doubted if Scarlett followed her around every day.
Lydia gave Scarlett a cold glance and quickly declined. “Sorry, we’d like to enjoy our dinner alone.”
A forced, awkward smile appeared on Scarlett’s face. “Well, alright then. By the way, I heard from the hotel staff that something happened to you last night. Are you okay? “When they were cleaning up, they handed me your handbag. I’ve been holding onto it, wondering to find a chance to give it back to you. Damon, could you hand me her bag?”
Ever since Damon had seen Lydia walking arm–in–arm with Henry, her steps slightly off, his back became stiff, and he’d felt an unsettling chill.
They were so close that Damon could see the faint trace of a kiss on Lydia’s neck.
Instantly, a coldness seemed to descend over his striking features. He stood up, his eyes carefully guarded.
Scarlett smiled and urged him, “Damon, hurry up. Lydia’s handbag is in the maternity bag you bought me.”
Damon took out Lydia’s handbag and handed it over.
Lydia didn’t even look at him, reaching out to take it.
With a smile, Lydia glanced at Scarlett. “Already buying maternity clothes? That was quick. Oh, I see. You’re obviously showing, and your face looks a bit swollen. “You should take good care of yourself and stay in good shape. After all, Mr. Williams has a history of infidelity,”
Lydia purposely said this to provoke Scarlett. After speaking, she turned and walked away with Henry, choosing a seat far away from Damon and Scarlett.
Damon watched their retreating figures, his fists clenching involuntarily, his eyes flashing with disdain.
Scarlett’s anger simmered beneath the surface, and she kept her rage in check, cursing Lydia silently in her mind.
Lydia went to the trash can, retrieved the contents of her handbag along with her key, then tossed the bag aside.
From a distance, Damon saw Lydia’s actions. She had changed the password on her handbag, and he couldn’t open it. The old password had been his birthday.
The restaurant’s dishes were exactly to Lydia’s taste, and she was hungry, eating a lot
Henry, as usual, remained quiet and elegant while eating.
Throughout the meal, Lydia tried to make conversation, and occasionally Henry would say a word or two.
After finishing her meal, Lydia excused herself to use the restroom.
As soon as Lydia came out of the restroom, Scarlett blocked her path.
When it was just Lydia and Scarlett, there was no longer any need for Scarlett to hide the mockery in her eyes.

Scarlett sneered. “It’s a high–end spot. Do you think Henry can afford it? Or maybe you expect Damon to pick up the tab for
all of us!”
Scarlett thought Lydia would be furious, but to her surprise, she chuckled.
Unease crept into Scarlett’s heart. Sure enough, the next second Lydia’s sharp words cut through the air. “Oh, well, of course, we all know he’s loaded. Im sure he doesn’t care about the cost of this dinner. But hey, you should be on aler
He’s filthy rich and has cheated before. Now you’re pregnant, getting all big, and not exactly your prettiest. Aren’t you worried? Even if he doesn’t take us out, maybe he’ll be inviting me young ladies instead.
So, since that’s the case, we’ll gladly accept your offer. Be sure to thank him for me. Lydia added with a smile.
Scarlett’s face paled. She instinctively reached up to touch her face. Her appearance mattered more to her than anything. and being mocked by Lydia over and over again made her furion-
Lydia, don’t go too far. Scarlett hissed under her breath, warning her finously
Lydia looked at her and shrugged. “How have I gone too far? Scarlett. I’m just reminding you. Im just being nice, you know Forget it. Just pretend you didn’t hear it. Now move aside. I’d like to continue enjoying my time with Mr. Brooks”
Scarlett, of course, wouldn’t step aside. She wanted to provoke dia but realized she couldn’t get the upper hand.
Scarlett continued to mock her. “Lydia, what are you so proud of Marrying a poor doctor who couldn’t even be a servant to Damon
Lydia suppressed her discomfort. “Yeah, you’re right. That’s something I can be proud of forever With Henry. I’m content. Do you see these marks on me? “I really appreciate your concern for Henry and me all day, but maybe you should worry more about yourself. I’ve heard that when a wife’s pregnant, it’s her husband who feels the loneliest. Don’t take things lightly
Lydia, you have no shame. Scarlett followed Lydia’s gaze and nanced the subtle marks on her. However, Damon had never! been so infatuated with her.
Lydia repeatedly hinted that Damon would cheat again, which clearly struck at the most vulnerable part of Scarlet’s heart. It was enough to make her furious.
You’ve always been imitating me, but you’ve never surpassed me Lydia said carelessly.
Scarlett’s face changed drastically, first pale, then livid, her teeth gritting with rage.
Lydia didn’t want to waste any more time with her, but Scarlett always pressed herself forward.
Lydia tried to step around Scarlett and leave.
Unexpectedly. Scarlett moved in front of her, blocking her way. Lydia, I know you’re jealous. You’re hiding your entwith that sharp tongue. I know you better than anyone. You’re just crazy with jealousy.”
You’re overthinking it. I’m not jealous. Actually, I should thank you for helping me see Damon’s true colors. Otherwise, I’d have to face the miserable life of crying over his affairs after marriage. Thanks, Lydia said, winking. This time, she was
sincere.
Scarlett made a face like she had just swallowed something rotten, her brows tightly furrowed.
Lydia warned her again. Don’t go looking for trouble with me again. I suggest you visit a beauty salon and take care of yourself during your pregnancy You look awful, Did the salespeople remind you to buy a couple of masks when you were

picking up maternity clothes?”
Scarlett froze for a moment, unable to process the comment.
When Lydia mentioned how a mask could help block dust and hide imperfections, Scarlett lost control of her temper. She raised her hand to slap Lydia.
But Lydia grabbed her arm/“Scarlett, think carefully. Are you sure you your baby.”
ht to hit me right now? Don’t blame me if you hurt
Scarlett was so enraged, Right now, her baby couldn’t afford a single mistake. She was counting on this child to marry
Damon
Scarlett had been so furious earlier that she hadn’t acted rationally. She had only noticed the corner of the hallway was free of surveillance but hadn’t considered her baby.
Scarlett took a deep breath, holding back her anger, then suddenly pulled her hand back and slapped herself twice.
Looking at Scarlett’s face instantly turning red from the slaps, Lydia was stunned.
‘Holy shit! Is this the latest shameless tactic? Lydia thought to herself. She heard familiar and unfamiliar footsteps behind her as Scarlett began to sob in frustration.
Lydia, no matter what, I admit that my relationship with Damon has hurt you, and I sincerely apologize. Please, don’t be so upset. I’m worried about the baby. The baby is innocent… Scarlet murmured.
Scarlett didn’t take any action, but her fake words flowed effortlessly from her lips.
