Jennifer looked up, her expression calm. “I did nothing wrong. Why should I apologize?”
“Jennifer, how dare you talk back? Do you want my son to be wheelchair–bound for the rest of his life?”
Millie’s eyes reddened with anger.
Everything else paled in comparison to this. Millie had waited so long for progress with the experimental drug, and she absolutely wouldn’t let Jennifer jeopardize this chance.
Sarah felt a wave of satisfaction watching Jennifer get scolded.
She said with fake concern, “Mrs. Clark, please don’t be angry. Jennifer has always been rebellious against the family, but blood is thicker than water. I’m sure if Jennifer apologizes, Dylan will forgive her.”
Jennifer was always acting all high and mighty in front of them.
Now, she wanted Jennifer to taste what it felt like to be trapped in a cage, just like she once was.

Sandy raised her voice from beside them. “Don’t tell me Jennifer’s plotting to keep Timothy from getting better so she can mooch off the Clark family forever?”
“Dream on!”
Millie shot that down immediately, turning to Jennifer. “Haven’t you been wanting to leave the Clark family anyway? Once my son’s leg heals, you can go wherever you want. I won’t even stop you from working at this studio.”
As far as she was concerned, what was Jennifer worth compared to her son’s recovery?

Just then, the award rankings were announced, and all eyes turned to the host on stage.
