Chapter 311 She Won’t Give Up
Jennifer could feel the weight of every gaze pressing down on her. She thought, “When someone’s down, everyone piles on.”

She straightened her back and replied calmly, “Think whatever you want. But this is my business. None of yours.”
What she meant was that it had absolutely nothing to do with those bystanders.
Sarah, however, was certain Jennifer was flustered. Otherwise, why would she sound so defensive?
In the past, Jennifer would have fired back with equal venom.
“Some people,” Sarah began, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “strut around like they own the place because of the Clark family’s name. But they’re nothing without it. Pathetic, really.”
“Jennifer always carried herself with an air of arrogance, bolstered by her status as the fiancée of Timothy. Now, I’m poised to take her down a peg. Let’s see how this bitch will show off now!” Sarah venomously.
Jennifer turned to face her. “Funny,” she said with a quiet mockery. “I seem to recall someone who was desperate to get engaged to Timothy on my behalf. Someone who begged to meet Madam Clark, only to be turned away at the door.”

“That’s a lie! I walked right in!”

Sarah’s face flushed a deep shade of red the moment the words left her mouth. Almost immediately, a wave of regret washed over her as she realized she had misspoken.
Her words were a clear admission, revealing her true desire to step into Jennifer’s shoes.
“Oh, yes,” Jennifer drawled, her tone dripping with sarcasm. ““You walked in, thanks to Asher. But did Madam Clark even see you in the end? Do you really think she’s so clueless that she doesn’t know what the Hargreaves family is scheming?”
Sarah retorted, “Jennifer, stop talking nonsense! I’ve never wanted to marry into the Clark family. You see marriage as a stepping stone to climb the social ladder. But I disagree.”
How could she possibly confess her innermost thoughts at such a moment? Voicing them would only invite a storm of embarrassment upon herself.
She thought, “That night at Hargreaves Villa, if Jennifer hadn’t seduced Timothy, things might have turned out differently. I would have triumphed by now. I wouldn’t be standing here, humiliated by Jennifer’s taunts.”
“Then why are you so worked up?” Jennifer retorted. “If someone didn’t know better, they’d think you were awfully interested in my fiancé.”
Sarah’s face turned a deep shade of red. She wanted to scream

that Timothy was such a cripple that no one cared about him.

But she bit her tongue. Just moments ago, Sadie had received at letter from the Clark family’s lawyer, threatening a lawsuit for defamation.
If she dared to say something like that, she’d be next.
Seeing Sarah finally fall silent, Jennifer turned away.
She thought, “Did Sarah really think she could get away with using Mrs. Millie Clark to slap me? That I’d just swallow my pride and let it go?
Not a chance. Even Mrs. Millie Clark’s threats didn’t faze me now. Once I start playing dirty, I’m unstoppable.”
Vivian had been quietly observing the exchange, but she dipped her head, choosing not to step in.
But when Jennifer finished speaking, Vivian looked up, her gaze landing on Sarah. “Your design submissions have been consistently subpar lately,” she said. “They’re nowhere near the quality of your previous work. Instead of worrying about this, you should focus on improving your grades. Look at how much Jennifer has progressed recently.”
At that precise moment, a realization dawned upon Vivian with crystal clarity–the design sketches Sarah had previously submitted were, without a doubt, the handiwork of Jennifer.
Sarah’s face twisted into a mixture of shock and anger.

She never imagined that Vivian would choose this moment to expose and embarrass her so publicly.

Feeling a surge of defiance, Sarah blurted out, “Ms. Hoover, it’s clear you’re playing favorites. Everyone knows Jennifer is the one who does the designs in your studio. You’re really fond of her, but that doesn’t mean you should be this biased.”
“Whether I’m biased or not, it’s clear to everyone. Jennifer’s work has improved significantly, while yours has regressed. If you continue submitting work at this level, you’re at risk of failing the course.”
To Vivian, Sarah’s behavior had been beyond unacceptable this
time.
Sarah deliberately let Millie attend the show to make trouble.
The Clark family was the biggest investor in this contest. If Millie decided to pull her weight, the studio could kiss the prize goodbye.
Sarah’s conduct was truly deplorable.
“Maybe Jennifer had quit the studio because of Mrs. Millie Clark’s threats,” Vivian thought.
