Chapter 337 Scars on the Neck
Jennifer hadn’t wanted to grab anything like that, but with time. running out, it was the only thing within reach.
After spending so much time at Dylan’s research facility, she knew the layout like the back of her hand.
Jennifer never meant to hurt anyone. All she wanted was to keep them at a safe distance, pure self–preservation, nothing more.
But Sarah turned out to be way more twisted than Jennifer had imagined, trying to knock her out with ether and trap her in that lab.
Jennifer didn’t need a crystal ball to know how that would’ve played out.
No way in hell was she going through another basement scenario.
Her eyes turned to ice as she spoke, “Bet Sarah won’t try pulling that stunt again.”
That stuff wasn’t just skin–deep–if it got to Sarah’s bones, the pain would be excruciating. And it wasn’t a quick sting, either. That kind of agony could drag on for days.
Timothy spoke indifferently, “She hurt you. Did you really think I’d let her walk away from that? If Grandma hadn’t shown up,

both of them would’ve been dead in that lab yesterday.”
He wasn’t bluffing, either. He’d been ready to end them right there.

“Killing someone is not that hard, but if you really want revenge, you make them wish they were dead. Take yesterday–sure, it might look like Angelina stopped you from finishing them off, but trust me, they’re absolutely miserable right now.”
Word from his secretary was that Sarah caught that chemical splash right in the neck.
The acid burns lined up almost exactly with where Sarah had inflicted those wounds on herself in her past life.
Injuries from this compound weren’t something she could just bounce back from. The scarring would be permanent.
And for someone like Sarah, who’d always taken such pride in her appearance, carrying those ugly scars would be a fate worse than death.
Now, Dylan’s lab was in shambles, and Jennifer had shattered that crucial vial of reagent.
Even if he managed to rebuild the facility from the ground up, his research would hit a dead end.
All his progress had hinged on that refined sample she’d developed.

In fact, the Hargreaves didn’t have anything left in their arsenal that could truly threaten the Clark family anymore.
Jennifer glanced over at Timothy, a worried look crossing her face. “But your mom must absolutely hate my guts now, right?”
In Millie’s mind, Timothy had only gotten on the Hargreaves family’s bad side because of her.
And now this whole mess with the lab being destroyed–that was on Jennifer too. Because of all this, Timothy’s leg recovery was pushed back indefinitely.
The moment his mother came up, Timothy’s expression darkened.
He fixed Jennifer with an intense look. “Listen, whatever my mother throws at you in the coming days–whatever unreasonable demands or harsh words she comes up with–just let it roll off your back. Don’t feel like you have to do anything she says.”
“But it’s different with her,” Jennifer protested. “She’s your mother.”
“That doesn’t mean you owe her anything,” Timothy shot back. “If anything, this whole situation happened because of her, not you.”
Timothy couldn’t wrap his head around why his mother held such intense hostility toward Jennifer.

“Maybe we should just tell your mother the truth,” Jennifer suggested gently. “She’s going to keep worrying about your leg otherwise.”
She understood that Millie’s extreme reactions stemmed from a mother’s fierce protective instinct over her son.
“Even if we told her the truth now, she wouldn’t buy it,” Timothy replied. “Plus, she’d definitely leak everything to the Hargreaves family. The last thing we need is them causing trouble and turning your life upside down.”
Timothy knew his mother all too well. Once she got something in her head, there was no changing her mind.
“But keeping her totally in the dark… that’s going to crush her,” Jennifer countered. “And the wall between you two will just keep getting higher.”
Jennifer hated seeing Timothy at odds with his mother like this, especially over her.
“None of that matters now.” Timothy brushed it off.
Watching his unbothered reaction, Jennifer finally understood why he’d never fought back against all those media–hit pieces back in the day. He genuinely couldn’t care less about the drama.
“We should at least tell Angelina about this,” Jennifer suggested after a moment’s thought. “She’s bound to be worried.”

Even though Angelina rarely voiced it, Jennifer knew Timothy’s leg injury had been weighing heavily on her heart. She’d seen it in her past life, too. It was Angelina’s constant source of anxiety.
Maybe if they brought her into the loop, she could talk some sense into Millie.
Timothy gave a slight nod. “Yeah, that works.”
At least Angelina would take Jennifer’s word for it, unlike ‘Millie’s extreme reaction to everything.
Suddenly, a troubling thought hit Jennifer. “But Dylan… He’s not the type to let things slide.”
She knew without a doubt that Dylan would be out for revenge.
